Cologne - 1. FC Köln had to be content with a 1-1 home draw against 1860 Munich on Matchday 31, passing up the opportunity to edge into the promotion play-off berth ahead of 1. FC Kaiserslautern.

Köln remain fourth on 51 points, one behind the Red Devils, who however have the chance to forge further ahead at FC Energie Cottbus on Monday evening.

Late leveller dampens Köln spirits

The Billy Goats got off to a flying start when Anthony Ujah volleyed home Christian Clemens' cut-back at the far post, and they almost made it 2-0 on 20 minutes, Grzegorz Wojtkowiak putting in a goalline clearance after Ujah had stabbed the ball past 1860 keeper Gabor Kiraly. Those chances apart, it was a fairly evenly-balanced encounter over the half, with the visitors from Munich gradually looking to seize the upper hand.

Ujah pulled another save out of Kiraly just over an hour in, but home coach Holger Stanislawski's growing unease proved prescient as Daniel Halfar prodded home Moritz Stoppelkamp's cross from the right at the near post to restore parity with 12 minutes remaining. A late flurry of chances and half-chances came and went for Köln, and 1-1 it remained.
