Berlin - Hertha BSC Berlin beat closest contenders Eintracht Braunschweig 3-0 to extend their lead at the top of Bundesliga 2 to four points.

Hertha dictated from the off, quickly settling into their attacking rhythm as Braunschweig struggled to contain Ronny, whose contract extension until 2017 had been announced to the over 50,000 spectators at Berlin's Olympiastadion shortly before kick-off. It was no surprise, then, when the Brazilian midfielder broke the deadlock on 34 minutes, leaving Daniel Davari no chance with a deflected free-kick.

The visitors weren't without their chances to level matters, though, with team captain Deniz Dogan and Ermin Bicakcic going close with a bicycle kick and a header respectively, although Hertha remained largely in the driving seat after the break. BSC's Columbia striker Adrian Ramos doubled the hosts' lead after 55 minutes into the clash, crowning a great solo effort, while Ronny, having missed an open goal, soon made amends by hammering an eye-catching free-kick of his own into the back of the net for his 16th goal of the season, wrapping up a deserved three points for Hertha.
