And welcome to my blog!! First of all I want to thank you for taking the time to read this. It is a great honor for me to be helping the Bundesliga covering a little piece of what the Copa America has to offer. It is such a huge event here in America, so it's pretty hard to cover all the information around it (mainly because every game is in a different location around the country... and I cannot manage to be everywhere... Yet!! Lol!).
But still... Being here and being able to stay close to Mexico's national team lets me live an incredible experience. And it is incredible not just because of the games or because of football (which I absolutely adore and it's one of my biggest passions!!) but because I get to feel an amazing atmosphere. I meet great, patriotic and passionate people, I see nervous kids smiling everywhere, so excited about watching their idols play. People from the US that love football and people from South America that travel all the way to the United States to support their flag and their colours! Yes, I know!! I am so lucky!!!
Well, sticking to the point... With this blog I am going to try to show you a little piece of Copa America. The little piece that I can live every day here. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! So follow us and I will definitely try my best to make you feel and live this incredible experiences as if you were here. We just arrived in LA, so pretty cool stuff coming soon!! See you around!
Day Two: Muhammad Ali
Lucia took a stroll around Los Angeles, and in particular the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where she happened upon the star of boxing legend Muhammad Ali. The former heavyweight champion of the world passed away the same day the tournament kicked off.
Day Four: Chicharito's closes on Borgetti
Chicharito' scored the opener in Mexico's 2-0 win over Jamaica that took EL Tri into the quarter-finals. It was the Bayer 04 Leverkusen man's 45th goal for his country, taking him to within one strike of Jared Borgetti's national record goal haul of 46.
Day Six: Picture this
Lucia helped talented fan Jiovanny Lopez meet Chicharito at the team hotel in L.A. The 24-year-old is an avid artist whose favourite player is Hernandez. The two Mexicans swapped pictures and signatures.
"Jio had one objective," said Lucia. "…to ask 'Chicharito' to sign one of his excellent drawings and to give him a smaller copy as a present so that it would fit in his suitcase."
Day Nine: Super Mario
Chicharito celebrated his goal against Jamaica in a particularly 'racy' manner. Chicha's friend and Formula One driver Sergio Perez thought the celebration was in dedication to him, but the truth revealed a rather different story with a team-building twist…
Day Ten: If you go to San Francisco…
Lucia, Chicharito and Miguel Layun dusted themselves down after a four-hour flight from Houston to San Francisco to explore the Golden Gate City.
