Bobby Wood of 1. FC Union Berlin was among the goalscorers for the USA as Jürgen Klinsmann's side beat Puerto Rico 3-1 in the first of three warm-up games in preparation for the Copa America Centenario.
The Hamburger SV-bound forward lifted a cool finish over the goalkeeper to double his side's lead in the first half, after Tim Ream had opened the scoring. Alvaro Betancourt pulled one back for the home side, before Paul Arriola's effort sealed a comfortable win for the USA.
Alongside Wood, John Anthony Brooks of Hertha Berlin and Alfredo Morales of FC Ingolstadt 04 also started the game, while Julian Green (FC Bayern München) and Fabrice-Jean Picault (FC St. Pauli) made second-half appearances from the bench.
The USA play further friendlies against Ecuador and Bolivia before kicking off the Copa America as hosts against Colombia in California on 3 June. Wood and Brooks have both been named in the final squad for the tournament, as have Christian Pulisic (Borussia Dortmund), Fabian Johnson (Borussia Mönchengladbach) and Timothy Chandler (Eintracht Frankfurt).
