Listening to the future - not only on World Children's Day 2020

The future belongs to the youth. This applies to the Bundesliga, where a number of young stars inspire the fans matchday after matchday. This season, three 17-year-olds - Jude Bellingham, Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz - have already caused a sensation.

And that applies to everyday life. Just as supporters cheer young hopefuls, we should all listen to the youth as well. Your thoughts on the future of our planet are important!

"Nelson Mandela once said, 'There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way in which it treats its children.' I believe this couldn't be more true. Listening to others, especially our children, is the greatest sign of respect we can give to them and serves as the basic foundation for creating a positive future. When you understand how important listening is, you'll understand how powerful language is. How we use words shapes our world both internally and externally," said TSG Hoffenheim CEO Dr. Peter Görlich.

"As leaders in the sports world and our communities, we are aware of our exemplary impact both on and off the field. This is why we invest so heavily in conserving resources and set a signal for sustainable development here in Hoffenheim. Not only because we want to lead the way but also because we want to make the importance of environmental issues part of the conversation. Children are our future and they deserve a planet worth living on," Görlich added.

World Children's Day of the United Nations is celebrated on 20 November as International Children's Rights Day. It is the anniversary on which the UN General Assembly passed the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Messages from the children under #Listentothefuture

This year, the artist Olafur Eliasson launched a project that invites children to talk and adults to listen. Named: Earth Speakr. The project uses augmented reality and includes a free app and an interactive website that can be accessed in 25 languages from anywhere in the world.

As part of World Children's Day on 20 November, Earth Speakr will bring children's ideas to the great thinkers of our time. On this day, Earth Speakr and its network will be fully involved in the values of World Children's Day through the simultaneous distribution of social media posts with the hashtag #ListenToTheFuture and will be active on a variety of interconnected channels to make the children's messages heard.

The Bundesliga supports the project and calls on its fans to participate: Become a part of the campaign and post your contribution on 20 November at 10.00am with #ListenToTheFuture!
