Virtual Bundesliga Open by Bevestor: Play-offs weekend
A total of 128 qualifiers will compete in the Virtual Bundesliga Open by Bevestor play-offs over the weekend of 7-8 May for the right to play in the Grand Final. We explain the tournament format and how you can follow the action live...
Format
Split between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, the field will face each other in the VBL Open Playoffs in the so-called 'Swiss mode'. The first of the five rounds will be drawn at random, after which players will face off round after round against participants with the same win/loss record.
A round consists of a first and second leg with the aggregate score being decisive. In the event of a tie, extra time will decide the outcome. If the teams still cannot be separated – a penalty shootout decides the winner. As soon as a player has lost for a third time, they are eliminated.
After five rounds, the 64 top players (32 per console) will go through to the Double Elimination round. The top eight will then go into the VBL Grand Final on 4-5 June in Cologne.
