Each player gets points for their actions on the pitch, based on the statistical analysis of the game. Depending on what they do well and perhaps not so well, players get positive or negative points.

For example, a player earns points when he scores, but the amount varies depending on his position. Robert Lewandowski - or any other striker - gets four points for a goal, a midfielder - like Jadon Sancho - five and a defender - take Dayot Upamecano - will have six. Should a goalkeeper find the net he’ll be awarded ten points.

In addition to earning points, scoring goals is key to a successful fantasy team. For every second shot on goal, your players will earn points. Duels won are also an important factor in the game. Five challenges won earns two points for a defender, while midfielders and strikers score one point.

On the other end of the spectrum, if a player scores an own goal they are deducted four points, while two yellow cards - resulting in a red - will result in a loss of three points, while a straight red card hands you minus five for your troubles.

For goalkeepers - like Manuel Neuer and Yann Sommer - it's simple. Keep a clean sheet and you get three points - along with your defence - while saving a penalty will earn you five points. Meanwhile, a shot-stopper will be rewarded for a point after every three saved shots he makes - so choose your No.1 wisely.

On each matchday, you can choose three star players: one in defence, one in midfield and one in your forward line. These star players receive 1.5 times the points that they actually earn in the game you have selected them for.

As long as you still have players in your team whose games have not yet started, you can change the existing star player and nominate one of the unused players.
