Full-time: Augsburg 0-0 Eintracht

It finishes all-square here in Bavaria. Eintracht came alive in the second half, perhaps going the closest through a very effervescent Knauff, had it not been for a goal-saving block from Zesiger. Both sides hit the woodwork too, and despite Augsburg's 13 shots and Frankfurt's eight, neither side could find a way past Dahmen or Trapp, both of whom were in fine form. The points are deservedly shared.

Nearly the instant impact!

A huge chance for Augsburg sees Tietz found on the edge of the box from a right-sided cross. The striker takes it first time, aiming for the bottom right corner, but Trapp gets down expertly to tip it round the post for a corner, which Augsburg don't manage to capitalise upon.

Tietz enters the fray

Zesiger's block

The Augsburg centre-back stopped a certain goal when got his body in the way to deny Knauff.
82'

Great stop from Dahmen

Bahoya takes the subsequent free-kick, floating a cross towards the back post. Tuta gets his head on it, but Dahmen pulls off a fantastic reaction save to deny him.
82'

Onyeka booked

The Augsburg midfielder is the latest to see yellow, this time for a foul on Knauff.
80'

Manager cautioned

Frankfurt boss Dino Toppmöller goes into the book for over-passionate protests that Hugo Ekitiké's shirt had been pulled in an advanced position.
78'

Ekitiké in behind!

The striker is sent through for a one-on-one with Dahmen on the right side of the Augsburg box, but not for the first time today, it's Dahmen who comes up trumps, stopping the Frenchman's low finish.

Another great clearance

Frankfurt produce another good move down the left. A cross comes in, looking for Kristensen at the far post, but Giannoulis comes across to make another goal-saving block for Augsburg! Brown takes the subsequent corner, but Frankfurt can't make anything of it.
73'

Matsima arriving

The subsequent free-kick is whipped in towards the back post from the right. Centre-back Matsima had got up from defence and wins the header, but his effort loops over the bar.
73'

First booking

Collins is the first player to see a yellow card. The Eintracht man is cautioned by the referee for a late challenge on Jensen.
70'

Goal gaping

The chances are coming thick and fast now. Ekitiké wins the ball back in the midfield and plays it onto Knauff. The winger drives forward, past Gouweleeuw and rounds Dahmen. He has an open net, but, off-balance, he can't put enough power on it, allowing Zesiger to recover and make the block to deny a certain goal. How is it still level?!
67'

Couldn't be much closer!

How has that stayed out? Berisha drives forward down the left for Augsburg. The substitute then cuts inside and curls an effort towards the far corner. Trapp is beaten, but his effort strikes the right post, rebounding to Jensen, who can't quite sort his feet out to finish into an open net. As such, the ball bounces off him and behind for a goal-kick.

Knauff!

Bahoya and Brown lead the counter-attack down the left for Frankfurt. The latter floats a deep cross towards the back post, where Knauff is waiting. The winger connects with the volley, but sends it just wide.
62'

Fresh legs

Jess Thorup finally goes to the bench, bringing on Jensen and Berisha for Kömür and Essende. Can the substitutes help their side find a breakthrough here?
camera-photo

Frankfurt growing

Eintracht have been much more industrious since the restart, perhaps owing to Toppmöller's half-time changes. However, they are still yet to find a breakthrough, as are Augsburg.
56'

Another change

The Eagles make their third substitution, in a seemingly like-for-like swap with Collins coming in for Theate.
55'

Dahmen spills it

The game is picking up pace now. Ekitiké smashes an effort towards the near post forcing a good stop from Dahmen, but the goalkeeper spills it, and the attempted clearance deflects off Kristensen and onto the post. That was nearly calamitous for the hosts...
53'

Another chance for Essende

Another Wolf cross is deflected off Koch, but drops kindly to Essende inside the box. The forward smashes the ball towards the goal, but his effort flashes across the face and behind for a goal-kick.
51'

Knauff with Frankfurt's first effort

Theate's cross comes in from the left, finding Knauff in the middle. The winger seems a little surprised the ball made it to him, stabbing it goalwards with a hesitant boot, but it's on target and forces Dahmen to dive down well to his left to make the save. Better from Frankfurt.
48'

Uncharacteristic

Experienced defender Koch gives the ball away carelessly at the back for Eintracht. Claude-Maurice pounces on the loose ball, but his effort flies over the bar.
46'

Play resumes

We're back underway here. As expected, Dino Toppmöller makes changes at half-time, bringing on Knauff and Bahoya for Batshuayi and Chaïbi, as the Eagles look to offer more going forward than they did in the first half.
Kick-off!

Half-time: Augsburg 1-0 Frankfurt

After a flurry of late corners for Augsburg, one of which caused real problems for Trapp and was spilled but not converted, the sides head in at the break all-square. Augsburg have been much the better side and have tested Trapp multiple times, though have lacked some precision in the final third. By contrast, Frankfurt went the entire half without taking a shot, so Dino Toppmöller will be looking to introduce more attacking impetus after the restart.

43'

Waived away

Batshuayi drives at the heart of the Augsburg defence and takes a tumble at the edge of the box, but the referee correctly dismisses any protest for a free-kick. Augsburg waste no time to counter-attack, but Kömür's left-footed effort from the edge of the box is very wayward.
40'

No way through

Kömür is sent to the byline once again. The youngster cuts it back to Claude-Maurice, who tries to squeeze it past Trapp, but a combination of Eintracht's custodian and Theate manage to block the effort.

Sharp Essende

Augsburg's centre forward has come closer than anyone to scoring so far this afternoon.
35'

Composed Claude-Maurice

The Frenchman has escaped 80 per cent of the situations in which he's been under pressure so far here. Most recently, he cut in from the left touchline before curling an effort towards the top right corner, but his effort was high and wide.

Last-ditch!

Claude-Maurice is slipped in behind the Frankfurt backline with a great pass. It looks as if he'll have a one-on-one as he bears down on goal, but Koch recovers excellently, clearing him out with a perfectly-timed slide tackle. He had to get that right, otherwise he would've been sent off...
camera-photo

One to watch

Wolf has looked really lively so far and has had the beating of Brown down the right flank. This duel could be where the game is won and lost today.
24'

Offside!

The corner is taken short, before a chipped ball over the top finds Wolf in space near the byline. The German squares it to Gouweleeuw, who smashes it goalwards from inside the six-yard box, his effort rattling the crossbar after Trapp managed to get a fingertip on it. It wouldn't have counted anyway though, as Wolf was offside in the build-up.
23'

In from Wolf

Wolf has a great opportunity to find Essende with a killer pass into the box, but he misplaces the cross. The ball works it's way back to him, and the wing-back wins a corner.
20'

Whistled past the post

Essende brings a lofted through-ball down excellently in the left channel. Without much support, he opts to go alone, cutting inside and letting a low shot fly. His effort goes past Theate and through the legs of Koch, ending up narrowly wide of the right post and beyond the diving Trapp. That was the best chance so far...
18'

Not a sniff for Eintracht so far

Whilst neither side have managed any clear-cut chances yet, Frankfurt are yet to pull the trigger here inside nearly 20 minutes.

Great footwork

Augsburg combine excellently down the right side, with Wolf, Jakić, and Kömür using triangles to great effect. Eventually, Kömür is sent into the box and the youngster dances through a few pairs of legs to reach the byline, but his blocked cross deflects back off him and goes behind for a goal-kick.
14'

Another corner

Batshuayi's attempt on the end of a Kristensen cross is blocked behind for a corner. Chaïbi takes again, looking for Ekitiké, who wins the initial header, but Gouweleeuw manages to clear the second ball.
10'

Too high

It's Kristensen who gives it away on left side of the edge of the box. Kömür dummies, allowing Zesiger to lay it off to Wolf at the edge of the box, whose first-time shot is over the bar.
8'

Sloppy

Skhiri gives it away at the back carelessly for Frankfurt. Essende pounces, but his through-ball for Claude-Maurice sends the Augsburg man too wide. The Frenchman tries to wriggle free to make room for a shot, but the chance dissipates.
5'

First corner

Chaïbi takes an out-swinger from the right, but it's headed clear from the front post by an Augsburg defender.
3'

How slick

That would've been one for the highlight reels had it gone in! Wolf does excellently down the right, taking a touch to flick it over his marker Brown. He moves it on to Claude-Maurice, whose low driven shot is held by Trapp.
1'

And we're off!

The ball is rolling here in Augsburg.

Trapp warms up

Eintracht fans will be delighted to see their custodian back in action today, although his return is marred by the news of Kauã Santos having ruptured his ACL. The substitute goalkeeper had done exceptionally in Trapp's absence, but is now set for an extended period on the sidelines himself.

More on that Augsburg side

For Jess Thorup, there are just the two changes to his Matchday 29 winning side. Kömür, fresh from scoring a 90th minute winner last time out, is rewarded with just his third senior start, whilst Zesiger returns to the backline. Jensen and Schlotterbeck take their places on the bench as a result.

More on that Frankfurt side

Dino Toppmöller makes four changes to his side which beat Heidenheim 3-0 last time out. Captain Trapp returns between the sticks, replacing the injured Santos. Larsson, Brown and Batshuayi also start, seeing Højlund, Bahoya and Uzun all drop to the bench.

Unstoppable force, immovable object

One duel to keep a particular eye on is that of Hugo Ekitiké against Chrislain Matsima. Frankfurt's French forward has scored each time he has faced Augsburg (two goals in two games). Trying to keep him quiet, however, will be Augsburg centre-back Matsima, who is the Bundesliga's best tackler in the second half of the season with a 70% completion rate. His good performances have earned Augsburg's no. 5 the Rookie of the Month award for both January and March.

The record is still on!

Victory on Matchday 29 saw Eintracht equal their club record for number of wins at this stage in the season (15 wins). The club record for a full season is 18 wins, so Frankfurt will need three wins from their remaining five games if they're to at least equal it.
