Full-time: Stuttgart 1-2 Wolfsburg

An exhilarating final 20 minutes sees Wolfsburg pick up all three points! Stuttgart were on top for the majority of the first 70 minutes and ultimately scored the opener their perseverance deserved when Nick Woltemade found the corner following a mazy run just minutes after being brought on. However, Wolfsburg were soon level through Tiago Tomás and, as full-time approached, Mohamed Amoura scored from the penalty spot after Josha Vagnoman had handled in the area.

What an impact!

Woltemade has been on the pitch a matter of minutes, but he has already made his mark. It's a brilliant run from the striker, who weaves his way past two defenders before finding the bottom corner. Brilliant.

Half-time: Stuttgart 0-0 Wolfsburg

An evenly-matched first half comes to an end with the score still level. Chances were few and far between, with only two shots to report - a Deniz Undav header that was saved by Marius Müller and Atakan Karazor's free header that went narrowly over the bar. Wolfsburg have threatened on occasion but have been unable to test Alexander Nübel.

Wolfsburg team news

Ralph Hasenhüttl makes two changes to the team that drew 0-0 with Bayer Leverkusen last weekend, both of which are forced. Joakim Mæhle's suspension means Yannick Gerhardt comes in, while an injury to Maximilian Arnold gives Aster Vranckx the chance to impress.

Stuttgart starting XI

Nübel - Vagnoman, Chabot, Hendriks, Mittelstädt - Karazor (c), Stiller - Leweling, Millot, Führich - Undav

Stuttgart subs

Bredlow, Jaquez, Stergiou, Jeltsch, Keitel, Rieder, Demirović, Woltemade, Diehl

Wolfsburg starting XI

Müller - Fischer, Vavro, Koulierakis, Gerhardt (c) - Tomás, Svanberg, Vranckx, Wimmer - Wind, Amoura

Wolfsburg subs

Pervan, Bornauw, Roerslev, Angely, Odogu, Kamiński, Dardai, Skov Olsen, Behrens

The lay of the land

Both teams are in the hunt for Europe, with Stuttgart able to leapfrog RB Leipzig into fourth-place if they pick up victory today. As for the visitors, Wolfsburg are ninth and five back from their hosts. Victory for them would ensure the Wolves keep pace with the pack.

Sebastian Hoeneß's thoughts on Wolfsburg

"A really good team. They've settled at a good level recently. It's clear to see what Ralph Hasenhüttl wants from them. It's a tough task."

Ralph Hasenhüttl's thoughts on Stuttgart

"The draw against Leverkusen didn't feel like a setback at first. Nevertheless, it's a shame that we didn't take more with us. Now we have another good opponent in front of us, but we're not that bad either and we're going there with confidence."

Milestones on the horizon

Two players could make their 100th Bundesliga appearance in this game - Angelo Stiller for Stuttgart and Kevin Behrens for Wolfsburg. Jonas Wind and Jamie Leweling, meanwhile, could make their 100th and 50th appearance for the visitors and the hosts respectively.

Plenty of goals

Only once in Bundesliga history have Wolfsburg scored more than this term's 43 goals after 21 matchdays - the 2015/16 term, when Kevin de Bruyne and Co. managed 46 at the same point of the campaign. That season ended in a DFB Cup triumph, which Hasenhüttl will hope could be an omen.

Wolves hunt better on the road

So far this term, Wolfsburg have enjoyed their travels. In fact, they have won more games away from home (five) than at the Volskwagen Arena (three) in the Bundeslig, and would be fourth in the table in only away games were counted.
camera-photo

Key component Chabot

Last term, Chabot won the highest percentage of duels of any player in the Bundesliga while playing for relegated Cologne. He has continued in the same vein this season, with only Jonathan Tah (71.5 percent) winning more than 65.6 percent).
camera-photo

Al-Dakhil and Bruun Larsen doubts

Meanwhile, the hosts are sweating on the fitness of Ameen Al-Dakhil and Jacob Bruun Larsen. The former faces a race against time to recover from a thigh issue, while the latter has been struggling with illness.
camera-photo

Wolfsburg's injury woes

Ralph Hasenhüttl could be without up to nine players for his team's visit to Stuttgart. Joining the likes of Lovro Majer and Kevin Paredes in the treatment room is captain Maximilian Arnold, who suffered a knee problem against Leverkusen last time out. Meanwhile, Joakim Mæhle is suspended, and recent January arrival Mads Roerslev is a doubt.
