KARAMAN CLOSE

Karaman tries to meet Mohr's free-kick, but he doesn't make contact right under Riemann's nose. In fact, he may have made contact with the Bochum goalkeeper, who is looking a bit sore.

FIVE MORE MINUTES

FINAL ROLL OF THE DICE

An attacking change for Bochum with a defender removed and a forward now on - all or nothing for the guests.

ZERO POINTS

Zero points and -13 goals, it is looking bleak for Bochum, unless they can get something from the final ten minutes.

ANOTHER TERODDE MISS

That could have been that for Bochum, but Terodde's curse tonight continues as he snatches at the shot and places it wide of Riemann's goal.

THROUGH IT GOES!

Mohr reels away in celebration, but the goal is an own-goal by Masovic after the Schalke full-back's curling shot was helped into his own goal by the Bochum defender. Mohr won't mind his own name not being on the scoresheet, as long as his team are leading.

TERODDE WASTEFUL

A great chance for Schalke, but Terodde either does not see Bülter to his right, or chooses not to feed him. In the end, his shot is blocked and the chance goes begging.

Bochum's players celebrate Zoller's (r.) equaliser - could it be enough to earn them their first point of the season?

That goal has edged Bochum closer to Schalke on the xG gauge.

Bochum are level! The offside decision was incorrect and the fact Zoller helped Hofmann's shot cross the line does not matter - it is a goal!

12 YEARS IN THE MAKING

Schalke and Bochum emerge from the tunnel, symbolically too since this Ruhr Derby last took place nearly 12 years ago.

SCHALKE SEEK SECOND WIN

Schalke are still awaiting their first win since being promoted as Bundesliga 2 champions. The Royal Blues were hammered 6-1 by Union Berlin on Matchday 4, but steadied the ship with a 1-1 draw at VfB Stuttgart last time out. Together with draws against Borussia Mönchengladbach and Wolfsburg, and defeat to Cologne on the opening weekend, it gives them three points from a possible 15 in the embryonic stages of the campaign.

DUCK-BREAK TIME?

Rock-bottom Bochum are not only winless - they're also pointless after succumbing to two late Niclas Füllkrug goals against promoted Werder Bremen on Matchday 5. Defeats to Freiburg (1-0), Bayern Munich (7-0) Hoffenheim (3-2) and Mainz (2-1) complete an alarming report card, though Thomas Reis was recently given a vote of confidence by the board.

MATRICIANI MAIDEN

Henning Matriciani will be making his first appearance of the season. The 22-year-old played his last official match in the S04 jersey on Matchday 34 of the 2021/22 Bundesliga 2 (15 minutes as a substitute in the 2-1 win at Nuremberg).

TWO CHANGES ALSO FOR BOCHUM

Thomas Reis also makes two changes to his starting eleven compared to their last match (2-0 home loss against Bremen): Danilo Soares and Philipp Hofmann replace Jordi Osei-Tutu and Gerrit Holtmann (both on the bench).

TWO CHANGES FOR SCHALKE

Schake coach Frank Kramer changes his starting eleven in two positions compared to the last match (1-1 in Stuttgart): Tobias Mohr and Henning Matriciani replace Thomas Ouwejan (on the bench) and Cedric Brunner (not in the squad due to muscular problems).

REIS PLAYING CATCH-UP

If Schalke are desperate for a win, Bochum are even more so. Thomas Reis's men have yet to add a point to the board and things are beginning to get tricky. Here's what Reis had to say about the current situation. "I can't blame the team. We're also doing a lot of things well. Of course, we'll have to keep working so that we can get something to show for it. With a win, we can catch up with Schalke in terms of points."
camera-photo

KRAMER "DESPERATE" FOR WIN

Schalke coach, Frank Kramer, got stuck straight in ahead of this Matchday 6 game, the Royal Blues tactician saying, "We are desperate to win this game. Bochum are one of our direct rivals in the fight for survival. We will do everything we can to get the points."

WELCOME ALONG

This is where we wrap up the Saturday evening action and it's a solid game for Bundesliga aficionados to look forward to, with bottom-of-the-table Bochum visiting a Schalke side desperate to pick up their first victory of the campaign.
