There are tired legs on both sides now after a furious second half of entertaining action - can somebody snatch a late winner like Bremen or Mainz yesterday?

Grand finale!

We have a grand finale in store, with Jakic almost restoring Frankfurt's lead. And there will be a fair bit of stoppage time for that long VAR Check...
86'

It counts!

Two offside checks in one: Dietz is in an offside position earlier in the move, although he does not actively move to the ball and play continues. Dietz was then offside when Thielmann struck his sweet volley, and he was almost in the trajectory of the shot, but the goal is confirmed and Cologne are level!

VAR check

Before Cologne can celebrate, there is a long VAR check underway to see if there was an offside...

Another super-sub!

Jan Thielmann pulls the trigger from a seemingly impossible position 20 yards from goal, but his low daisy-cutting volley nestles in the bottom corner. Trapp only saw it when it was already rippling his net!

A Frankfurt first

Frankfurt have gone ahead in a Bundesliga match for the first time since March - a run of 11 games in which they have not taken the lead.

Ovation for Pellegrini

A debut to remember for Pellegrini, who impressed with his tackling and passing, earning a standing ovation as he leaves the field - one he won't forget in a hurry.

Götze in his element

Mario Götze has been showing plenty of his trademark trickery today.
76'

Cool combinations

The confidence is flowing through Frankfurt's limbs, with a delightful pass from Pellegrini with the outside of his boot sending Kamada through, and he twists and turns past two defenders only to finish up down a dead end, but that move got the fans on their feet.
75'

Alariooooh!

Very close to a second for Frankfurt with Alario wrapping his laces around a pile-driver which dips just too late to fall below the crossbar.
73'

Deserved lead

Since half-time, Frankfurt have had all of the shots on goal and Cologne have yet to test Trapp.

Kolo Muani close

Physical strength and speed get Kolo Muani into a great position to shoot, but Hübers lunges in and makes an excellent block.
63'

Tactical change

Knauff comes on to take his place on the right, with Jakic seemingly slotting into the midfield, another different approach for Frankfurt and a new role for Knauff as right full-back.
57'

Thielmann close

Kainz creating danger this time from open play, and his pass finds Thielmann whose effort is blocked at the near post by Trapp, though the offside flag goes up. Almost a dream introduction, only seconds after coming on!

A couple of shots from Frankfurt have brought the statistics back in line.

Lindstrom too far back!

Another big chance for Frankfurt, but Lindstrom does the hard work in getting to the goal line, but he cuts the ball back too far with Borre unmarked in the centre!

Sublime Götze pass!

A great opening for Frankfurt, thanks to a fantastic pass from Götze to send Lindstrom through. His first touch lets him down, though, and he leaves himself with too big an angle to hit the target from.

Frankfurt on the front foot

Just as in the first half, the hosts are quicker out of the blocks and are probing early on.

Trapp saves

Adamyan sends in a low shot which Trapp touches wide, but Pellegrini had lost his marker after a marauding run à la Kostic - something the Italian will still have to fine-tune for Frankfurt.

Tigges lacking touches

That shot from Tigges was only his tenth touch of the game - fewer than any other player on the field.
41'

Hector into the side-netting

Kainz has spent a lot of his time off the field of play right down in the corner, whipping balls in from within the semi-circle, and his latest corner is flicked on by Hector into the side-netting. Incidentally, Hector now has the most shots of the game (three).

Taste of own medicine

It's Cologne who now launch a fast transition and Tigges gets on the end of it, but his shot is deflected behind for a corner. Cologne giving Frankfurt a taste of their own medicine.

Borre wants a penalty

Frankfurt weave a way around the back and the ball falls for Borre from Rode's cross and Kolo Muani's touch, but he's in an offside position anyway. Some good overlapping play from Jakic down the right is giving the Eagles a bit of an edge down there.

Kainz corner

Another corner for Cologne, which seems to be their best route to goal, but Kainz's outswinging cross is helped away by the Frankfurt defence.

Long-range Luca

He played 69 times in Italy's Serie A without scoring, but Luca Pellegrini almost marked his Bundesliga debut with a goal, with a sizzling strike from long range fizzing past the right-hand post.

New arrival

Just ahead of kick-off, Eintracht Frankfurt have boosted their midfield options by recruiting Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe from Paris Saint-Germain. The 21-year-old, who played 10 league games for the French champions in the 2021/22 season, has signed a season-long loan with the UEFA Europa League winners. The club also announced that the deal includes an option for Frankfurt to make the move permanent. "With Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe we were able to strengthen our midfield in a targeted manner, which means that we see ourselves well equipped for the tasks in three competitions," said Eintracht sporting director, Markus Krösche.

WHAT'S YOUR PREDICTION ?

Which way is your pre-match prediction going, then? Perhaps the following stat will help as you weigh up the outcome of this one: Cologne have played out more draws with Frankfurt than any Bundesliga team they’ve faced (28).

TALE OF THE TAPE

A quick tale of the tape reveals that Frankfurt have yet to post a win in this season's Bundesliga, the Eagles suffering a heavy loss to Bayern Munich on opening night before drawing 1-1 with Hertha Berlin last time out.
