FREIBURG SIGN OFF ON A HIGH

Freiburg extend their unbeaten start to a club record six matches. All the goals fell in the first half in their final game at the Dreisam. Head coach Christian Streich is in tears at the final whistle on what's been a fitting farewell to one of the most unique grounds to have made a home in the Bundesliga.

NERVY MOMENT

Reece Oxford sells Gikewicz very short with his attempted back-pass. The Augsburg goalkeeper is first to the loose ball, but gives the referee a nervy look, fearing he might be adjudged to have handled outside his box.
85'

PETERSEN ON THE HUNT

Schlotterbeck could go alone, but opts to play in Petersen, who fires off target. Freiburg come again with the veteran striker, who hammers wide from 18 yards. He wants his record-extending 30th substitute goal - it'd also be Freiburg's 1000th at the Dreisam.
81'

DOUBLE STOP

Demirovic shoots goalwards from close range, firing his effort into the face of Gikiewicz. The Augsburg keeper isn't too dazed - moments later, he's there to swat away a cross bound for Petersen.

AUGSBURG SWITCH

As Freiburg switch to more of a 4-4-2, Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl hooks striker Florian Niederlechner and No.6 Niklas Dorsch. Winger Fredrik Jensen and midfielder and Arne Maier are on.
72'

TRIPLE CHANGE

Freiburg's record goalscorer and the Bundesliga's all-time leading substiute scorer, Nils Petersen, is one of three sets of fresh Freiburg legs. It'd be so apt for him to score the club's 1000th goal at the Dreisam...
69'

GÜNTER ROCKET

Freiburg shift the ball patiently from right to left. Günter controls around 20 yards from goal, before sending a fierce strike wide of the right-hand upright. Why not? The man's on fire today!
66'

OFF THE LINE

Günter's at it again. He takes out the Augsburg defence, including goalkeeper Gikiewicz, but Petersen is on the line to clear.
65'

JEONG!

Jeong Woo-yeong sends in a dangerous ball that Gikiewicz gets fingertips to. Augsburg don't defend the ensuing throw-in too well at all, allowing Höler to help the ball into the area for Jeong. The former Bayern attacker's under pressure from Gouweleeuw and steers agonisingly wide.
61'

KEITEL ON

Yannik Keitel replaces opening goalscorer Nicolas Höfler. Keitel, 21, had started Freiburg's first five matches of the Bundesliga season.
60'

VARGAS ON THE RUN

No faulting Vargas's endeavour as he charges inside to fashion a shot that swerves away from Flekken's goal. That just about sums up Augsburg's performance in attack.
55'

GÜNTER THREAT

Augsburg haven't learned their lesson as Günter scampers away up the Freiburg left. He drifts a ball into the box for the unmarked Eggestein, whose shot is charged down.
47'

CALIGIURI!

Former Freiburg midfielder Daniel Caligiuri has a pop from a good 20 yards out, forcing a diving, albeit fairly routine save from Flekken in the Freiburg goal.

TALKING TACTICS

Markus Weinzierl shuffles his pack, and it looks like a change from a three- to a four-man backline, with Gumny moving over to the right-hand side of the defence.

FREIBURG IN CHARGE

Three first-half goals give Freiburg a commanding lead in their final game at the Dreisamstadion. It's difficult to see a way back for Augsburg, who have really struggled in the final third.

NIEDERLECHNER!

Augsburg's only goalscorer so far this season tests Mark Flekken for the first time with a snap-shot from a tight angle. It's a routine save for the Dutchman, who recently received his maiden call-up to the senior Netherlands squad.

FLYING SAVE

Günter bends a free-kick into the Augsburg area. Höfler dives to meet it with a flicked header, the Freiburg man drawing a flying save from Gikiewicz. Freiburg going for a cricket score...
34'

GRIFO FROM THE SPOT!

Günter's cross from the by-line catches the outstretched hand of Framberger, who was going to ground in an attempt to block. Referee Daniel Schlager points to the spot, and Grifo steps up to send Gikiewicz the wrong way. Freiburg are cruising!

ADVANTAGE FREIBURG

26'

HÖLER!

Freiburg double their lead. Maxi Eggestein splits the Augsburg defence with an eye-of-the-needle pass into the penalty box. Lucas Höler rolls two men, before dinking over the advancing Gikiewicz. Superb goal. The Dreisam is in dreamland!

NEARLY!

Mads Petersen drives into the Freiburg box, before cutting and inviting ball across the six-yard area. Schlotterbeck hoofs clear, with Augsburg shirts circling to provide the killer touch.
19'

GRIFO DIPPER

Vincenzo Grifo sizes one up from the left-hand side of the box, whipping a vicious effort over the crossbar. The Italian is capable of the spectacular - Gikiewicz takes his defence to task to remind them.
15'

HALF CHANCE!

Höfler clips a ball into the Augsburg box for the run of Höler. He swings his left foot at the dropping ball, but doesn't catch it cleanly and volleys wide.
12'

VARGAS THREAT

Augsburg show a response, with Niederlechner involved. Vargas tries to take on a shot, but stumbles and is crowded out.
11'

CAPTAIN FANTASTIC

Günter strides into Augsburg territory once more. He looks towards the box, but his cross is put behind for a corner, which comes to nothing. Raphael Framberger has to get tighter to the Freiburg skipper.
7'

FREIBURG LEAD!

That man Günter is played in behind the Augsburg defence. He drives into the box and forces the save from Gikiewicz. Lukas Kübler races in from the other flank to sweep home the rebound from a tight angle. Fantastic Freiburg start!

Lukas Kübler
3'

HÖFLER!

Nicolas Höfler meets a Christian Günter free-kick, but his effort lacks the power to trouble Rafal Gikiewicz. Augsburg will have to watch the Freiburg captain's deliveries, especially from set-plays.
2'

HAHN FROM RANGE

Andre Hahn tries his luck from distance, but it's always rising. Shows Augsburg's confidence, though, after that important win over Gladbach. The place is bouncing, by the way.

END OF AN ERA

Freiburg are playing at their inimitable home ground for the 360th and final time in the Bundesliga (W148, D95, L116). Nestled in the foothills of the Black Forest, it opened in 1955 and underwent several reconstructions in the 1990s, increasing capacity in each of the terraces to its present limit of 24,000 (10,000 standing), making it one of the smallest in the Bundesliga. With the capacity to become climate-neutral, Freiburg's new 34,700-capacity Schwarzwaldstadion will continue the south-west outfit's long-standing commitment to sustainability. It will open its doors to Bundesliga action on 16 October, when RB Leipzig come to town.

SEASON SO FAR

Freiburg remain unbeaten since the start of the season and will be looking to end their time at the Schwarzwaldstadion in style in this, their final game before moving into their new state-of-the-art Europa-Park Stadion. Die Breisgauer are unbeaten after five matches for the third time in their Bundesliga history. On each occasion, they suffered their first defeat on Matchday 6. Augsburg picked up their first win of 2021/22, beating Gladbach last time out to move onto five points. Curiously, they are the only Bundesliga team this season still to score, and concede, away from home.

MORE ON THOSE TEAMS

Jonathan Schmid misses out through injury for Freiburg, but Lukas Kübler starts in what looks to be a 3-4-3 in which Vincenzo Grifo is restored to the starting line-up alongside Jeong Woo-yeong. As for Augsburg, Mads Pedersen comes in to replace the injured Iago at left-back. Michael Gregoritsch begins on the bench after recovering from a knock, but Felix Uduokhai is sidelined.
