BOATENG!

KP pulls out the volley on the edge of the box. It's sweet and well directed, but Anton gets a brave forehead in the way before Müller is called into action.

information
xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals > xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals > goals).

COMEBACK COMPLETE

The last time Hertha came from 2-0 down to to earn a point was in March 2020 with a 2-2 draw against Bremen.

THEY'RE LEVEL NOW!

No denying the Berliners this time. It's a lovely worked goal as Plattenhardt crosses from the left, Belfodil in the six-yard box taps it into the path of Jovetic running between the centre-backs and the Montenegrin slots it past Müller.

SO CLOSE!

And Hertha do almost have their equaliser. Jovetic over a free-kick to the left of centre. It's arrowing into the near top corner but Müller just gets there with both hands to turn it over.
72'

KP AT THE READY

The experienced midfielder is on for the final 20 minutes as the Berliners seek an equaliser.
69'

DOMINANCE NOT PAYING OFF

Stuttgart have had 60% possession in this half, but haven't been able to convert that into chances. They've had just two shots since the break.
64'

NO THIRD FOR VFB

Marmoush has the ball in the back of the net again after racing in behind. There's a lengthy VAR check before confirming the offside decision.

THE DIFFERENCE AS IT STANDS

MEN DOWN

Förster and Darida are both down after a clash of heads and in need of treatment. Both look like they'll be fine to continue.

STUTTGART IN CONTROL

The home side know they just have to keep the ball.

TIBIDI!

What a chance for his first Bundesliga goal as the Frenchman is picked out by the cutback from the left, level with the near post, but he only hits his standing leg and the ball bounces harmlessly wide.
46'

HALF-TIME CHANGE

Stuttgart send on 18-year-old Frenchman Alexis Tibidi for his second senior appearance.

SOSA DENIED

The left-back comes inside on his right and looks for the far corner in the same way Hertha have done, but Boyata throws a head in the way to divert it over the bar. The corner comes to nothing.

ADDED TIME

Two minutes extra at the end of this half.
44'

MAOLIDA!

A sweet strike from 20 yards by the French forward, but it's too close to Müller, who pats it down in front of him.
40'

THIS ONE DOES COUNT!

This one might be even better than Belfodil's disallowed one. Jovetic drives at the Stuttgart defence through the inside left channel, shifts it onto his right as he gets to the box and just floats a curler into the far top corner for his third of the campaign.

GAME ON? NO!

Hertha thought they were back in this as Belfodil did his best Erling Haaland impression with a bending effort into the far post from wide on the left. It's a brilliant finish but it won't count as referee Benjamin Brand goes over to the monitor and decides a Hertha player in an offside position was obstructing Müller's vision, so it doesn't stand. The Algerian's wait for a first Bundesliga goal since May 2019 goes on.

GOOD FROM MAOLIDA

Good footwork from the Hertha winger, creating space on the left. His ball into the middle is sharp, Belfodil can turn it towards goal but with no real force or direction.

GOOD SHIP HERTHA IS LEAKING

The Berliners have conceded 29 goals now this season - second only to bottom side Fürth. Twenty-two of those have come away from home.
22'

MARMOUSH AGAIN

Far closer to goal this time as Marmoush cuts inside from the right, but his left-footed effort is repelled by Schwolow.

STUTTGART DOUBLE UP!

It's far too easy for the home side. Förster is allowed to run at the defence, who keep dropping off. He shifts the ball onto his left as he comes into the centre and picks out the near corner past a helpless Schwolow.

MARMOUSH ON THE BREAK!

It's not a cross but pure pace on the counter that does it for Stuttgart. Anton wins the ball on the edge of his own box, Marmoush is already setting off from his own half and the ball is perfectly weighted. The Egyptian is far too quick for Boyata and he slots away past Schwolow.

On target this time from the visitors as Belfodil finds space to the right of goal, but he puts his effort straight into the chest of the brave Florian Müller.

PLATTENHARDT WIDE

Hertha immediately on the front foot. Pekarik's cross from the right is headed clear but only as far as Plattenhardt arriving from deep. Normally a sweet striker of the ball, the left-back drags well wide this time.

HERTHA TEAM NEWS

In contrast, it’s been all change at Hertha this week with Pal Dardai dismissed and replaced as coach by Tayfun Korkut – a Stuttgart native and former VfB coach – after the 1-1 draw with Augsburg. Korkut restores captain Dedryck Boyata after his three-match suspension in place of Niklas Stark. Suat Serdar is ill, so Vladimir Darida comes into midfield. Myziane Maolida gets the nod over Maximilian Mittelstädt on the left, while Stevan Jovetic comes in to partner Ishak Belfodil in place of Jurgen Ekkelenkamp up top.

STUTTGART TEAM NEWS

Pellegrino Matarazzo makes just one change from last matchday’s 2-1 win here against Mainz. Atakan Karazor was always a doubt with a knock, ultimately only making bench today, and is replaced by Hamadi Al Ghaddioui in an attacking change.
