THURAM THE MAN OF THE DERBY

The Frenchman's two goals in the final 16 minutes turn this incredible game around and hand Gladbach all three points. His first goal was a well-timed run and neat finish, but the second goal was pure mayhem. Zack Steffen will be gutted to have conceded twice considering his performance, but he tried his best to keep out the second goal. Gladbach up to 5th.

THURAM TURNS THIS GAME AROUND!

Incredible scenes here as Thuram scores a second to put Gladbach ahead. It was an incredible goal-mouth scramble as Raffael's initial shot cannoned back off the bar. Embolo had a go and forced an incredible save from Steffen, but the rebound came out to Thuram who smashed it home. The referee checked for an offside, but the goal is given.

FINAL FIVE MINUTES...

Will we see a winner in these final minutes to separate the Rhine derby? Both sides are getting forward and look like they could grab the winner...
78'

WHAT A RUN FROM THURAM

The Frenchman dribbles his way through three or four defenders and into the Fortuna box. He loses the ball right at the end, but Embolo picks it up. He goes for goal, but the away side's defence blocks the chance.
74'

THURAM LEVELS IT!

Gladbach finally find a way past Steffen and it's the substitute who does it. Neuhaus' superb through ball down the right finds Lainer, who in turn whips in a low cross to the near post which Thuram is first to. He gets ahead of Ayhan and clips the ball into the net at the near post.

THOMMY THE COUNTER THREAT

The Fortuna substitute looks like he can cause damage to Gladbach on the counter-attack. Twice now he has broken away and had shots on goal, but both times Yann Sommer has been equal to it.
66'

GLADBACH FORCING THE PLAY NOW

The Foals are finally beginning to link passes together and get in behind the Fortuna defence. They just can't get that final pass on point, or beat Steffen in the away side's goal when they do so...
62'

HERRMANN HEADS WIDE

Zakaria goes into a challenge with Bodzek and the ball falls into the Fortuna box with Herrmann the first to it. The awkward bounces forces the winger to go for a diving header, and he can't keep it on target to test Steffen again.
59'

FORTUNA NOT SLOWING DOWN

The away side continue to bring the ball forward whenever possible, although Gladbach have been in control of most of the possession in this second half so far.

WHAT A SAVE FROM STEFFEN!

The USMNT goalkeeper is playing at a world-class level right now. A low cross comes into the box from the left towards the back post on the right and for all the world it looks as if Herrmann is going to score into an empty net. But out of nowhere, Steffen leaps across the face of goal and makes an incredible save.

JANTSCHKE UNABLE TO CONTINUE

A nasty blow to the head of Jantschke and he's substituted off for Nico Elvedi...
51'

JANTSCHKE DOWN

The Gladbach defender is down and looks unconscious after a collision with teammate Embolo. We'll have a break here as he receives treatment.

TACTICAL FOUL

Gladbach are powering forward on a 3-on-2 break with Neuhaus. The German rounds Zimmermann but is brought down as he does so.

FORTUNA LEAD THIS CLOSE GAME

Both sides have had plenty of chances but one header that went only inches over the line is the difference between the two sides. Fortuna making the most of Gladbach's sluggish start to take the lead, but the home side have responded. Benes has been heavily involved, as well as Embolo, but Steffen is once again proving himself as a superb goalkeeper.

NO PENALTY

Embolo was offside in the build-up and therefore no penalty is awarded.

VAR CHECK...

We're having a look for a potential penalty for Gladbach. Embolo was brought down by Adams, but he may have been offside in the build-up.

GINTER HEADS AT GOAL...

Benes' cross is met by Ginter at the back post and he heads the ball at goal, not as powerfully as he'd like though... Steffen is on hand to make a one-handed save to keep Fortuna ahead.
34'

KOWNACKI HAS A GO

A mistake at the back from Gladbach allows Kownacki to collect possession and take a shot at goal. He obliges with a thunderous effort at Sommer, which the Swiss shot-stopper is able to parry away.
33'

ZIMMER SHOT BLOCKED

Big chance for Fortuna as Lewis Baker's perfect through ball is latched onto by Zimmer. He cuts inside Wendt in the Gladbach box, but his attempt that follows is blocked superbly by Jantschke.

GLADBACH STRUGGLING IN THE FINAL THIRD

It's all going well for the home side with the ball, until they reach the Fortuna box. Neuhaus and Benes have both looked for passes through to Embolo and Plea in this first half and not many have connected with their targets. Partly down to poor execution but also Fortuna's defensive work.
25'

FORTUNA IN DERBY MODE

The away side have won 63% of the game's challenges so far. Providing a tough task for Gladbach to breakthrough.
20'

ELECTRIC END-TO-END START

Since the goal Gladbach have come back into this game strongly creating a number of chances and building pressure on the Fortuna defence. It's still very much end-to-end, though, with the away team still pushing on themselves. Very entertaining start.
15'

BENES SHOT BLOCKED

Plea crosses the ball to the back post of Fortuna's box and Benes collects it. He faints past a defender to create space for a shot on his left foot, but Adams is in front of Steffen and makes a crucial block. End-to-end stuff here at Borussia-Park!
12'

SUPERB FROM STEFFEN AGAIN

Embolo is sent through by a pass from Neuhaus and goes for goal. He's thwarted by Steffen with a superb finger-tip save, but the ball loops into the air for another chance. Embolo controls and goes for goal again, but the American goalkeeper is up quickly to dive in front of his second shot and save again.
12'

BODZEK SO CLOSE

Fortuna's corner drops in the Gladbach box and the home side are unable to clear it. The ball falls to the captain who takes a scrappy shot at goal, which dribbles just past the post.
11'

EMBOLO FORCES A SAVE

Nice movement off the ball from the Swiss forward to latch onto Lainer's pass. He shoots low at the near post and Steffen makes a solid save.
9'

ALL FORTUNA HERE

It's been a superb start to this game from the away side. Gladbach have hardly touched the ball in the opening 10 minutes and a number of half chances have been created, while the home side are struggling to match Fortuna for pace.
7'

ADAMS HEADS FORTUNA IN FRONT

Gießelmann's corner is cleared but gets played back to him and he has another go. Hoffmann is at the back post and heads the ball back across goal to Adams, who sends a header at goal. It bounces down off the crossbar and over the line before Ginter and Lainer can clear it. The Gladbach defence will be wondering what happened as they were stood behind the goalline.

AYHAN FIRES OVER

A training ground set-piece almost works out for Fortuna as the ball is laid off to Ayhan to strike towards goal from 25 yards. Christian Dingert, the referee, almost blocks his effort instead of the Gladbach defence, but it sails wide.

Big atmosphere at a packed Borussia-Park as the two teams come out onto the pitch. A big derby game to kick-off our Sunday Bundesliga football. Strap in for this one!

ANOTHER RHEIN DERBY

Just a week after Gladbach defeated Cologne 1-0 away from home, another club on the Rhein will face their close rivals with Fortuna Düsseldorf now coming to Borussia-Park. Just 33km (20 miles) separate Düsseldorf and Mönchengladbach.

GLADBACH TO JOIN THE 10-POINT GROUP

Marco Rose's side can climb up to a 10-point haul after five games should they pick up three points today. It would take them level with Freiburg, Schalke and Bayer Leverkusen in 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively.

CHANGE OF FORTUNA FORMATION?

It looks like Friedhelm Funkel could be changing to a three-man defence today, with Andre Hoffmann, Kaan Ayhan and Kasim Adams all starting. Adam Bodzek and Lewis Baker will be in central midfield, while a free-roaming attack of Kenan Karaman, Dawid Kownacki and Jean Zimmer.

CAN BORUSSIA BOUNCE BACK?

Just three days ago Borussia Mönchengladbach suffered a huge surprise defeat at the hands of Wolfsberger on the opening night of the Europa League group stages. The 4-0 defeat means that Patrick Herrmann comes into the side today, with Marcus Thuram dropping to the bench. Laszlo Benes also starts in midfield, while experience is added in defence with Tony Jantschke.
