MAINZ STILL PUSHING

Onisiwo asks the question with a ball into the box, but Latzka can't apply the telling touch. The 05ers win a corner soon after - off the post from Quaison! The Swede was offside, though.

LEWANDOWSKI!

Bayern should be further ahead, but Lewandowski gets his bearings wrong after being played in by Coutinho. We don't see that often!
79'

THIAGO TO THE RESCUE!

Mainz are almost in here. Adam Szalai puts Jerome Boateng on his back in the Bayern box but just as he's about to pull the trigger, Thiago sticks out a boot to toe the ball behind for a corner. What a game he's having!
75'

COUTINH-NO!

Zentner beats away a fierce strike from Philippe Coutinho - Bayern's first atttempt on goal of the second half.
74'

ATTACKING CHANGES

Barreiro takes a knock, and can't continue. Onisiwo should offer more of an attacking threat, with Mainz still very much in this. Target man Adam Szalai is also on.

PLAN B-OMBASTIC

What a luxury for Bayern: take Müller and Goretzka off, throw on Coutinho and Gnabry. The visitors need a spark, and interim coach Hansi Flick also has next week's DFB Cup tie with Hoffenheim to think about...
64'

BROSINSKI STRIKE

Daniel Brosinski warms the palms of Manuel Neuer from range. As long as it stays 3-1, Mainz will feel they can get something out of this one...
62'

GNABRY AND COUTINHO READIED

Serge Gnabry and Philippe Coutinho are about to come on for Bayern. That should put a rocket up the record champions...

BAYERN YET TO FIRE

Credit to Mainz - they've prevented Bayern from having a shot on goal since the restart. Why didn't they play like this in the first half?! It's a completely different game right now...
54'

MAINZ SEARCHING

Really bright start from Mainz. They've had to be alert to prevent a couple of balls into their own box finding Perisic, but are being very bold in the final third. This ain't over yet...

MAINZ PULL ONE BACK!

Bayern concede for the first time since Matchday 16. Jerry St. Juste goes up for another corner. He doesn't catch it cleanly, but his header beats Neuer thanks to a telling deflection off Goretzka. Almost a perfect half from Bayern - almost.
39'

WAYWARD STRIKE

Mainz are still probing as Levin Öztunali blazes over from 18 yards. The build-up was patient, and he had men better placed - that move deserved better.
38'

BETTER FROM MAINZ

Öztunali advances down the Bayern left and hangs up a cross for Jean-Philippe Mateta, but Benjamin Pavard beats him to it. Crucial intervention.
33'

MAINZ CHANGE

Pierre Kunde is far from happy to be given the hook, especially after missing out a week ago through suspension. Danny Latza is on to shore up the Mainz midfield.
30'

THIA-GOAAAAAL!

Bayern add a third, and the game isn't even 30 minutes old yet! Lewandowski takes possession in the Mainz box, but is shown away from goal. Davies arrives on the corner of the box, and finds Thiago to his right. He takes out his marker with an adventurous first touch, and proceeds to make a mockery of the Mainz defence with a few cute touches before driving in his third goal in as many games.

OFF THE POST FROM BARREIRO!

Mainz are not out of this yet. Zentner goes long for Levin Öztunali, who slides the ball out wide for Ridle Baku. Barreiro takes the ensuing cross on the volley, and strikes the base of Manuel Neuer's left-hand post!
18'

BAYERN COME AGAIN

Perisic lays the ball off to Alphonso Davies on the Bayern left, but the Canadian's cross in plucked out by Zentner. Lewandowski lets him know that he was completely unmarked. Let-off for Mainz.
15'

MÜLLER DOUBLES UP

Uh-oh, this could get ugly for Mainz. Thomas Müller plays in Lewandowski, who's clattered by the advancing Robin Zentner as the ball is cleared only as far as Goretzka. He slides it across to his right, where Müller arrives with an emphatic side-footed finish for 2-0.

GORETZKA THREAT

Another warning shot from Goretzka, who collects in a central area from Ivan Perisic and blazes over. That's twice now he's got into a shooting position. Mainz beware...

LEWANDOWSKI, WHO ELSE?

Moments after Jerry St. Juste shoulders agonisingly wide from a Mainz corner, Bayern take the lead. Thiago shifts the ball out wide right to Pavard, whose cross is measured to perfection. Lewandowski does what St. Juste couldn't, and makes a full connection with his head, powering in his 22nd Bundesliga goal of the season. No chance for Zentner.
5'

GORETZKA

Quick interchange in the Bayern midfield. Goreztka and Lewandowski exchange passes, before the former drives wide at full pelt on his weaker left foot. Promising...

YELLOW PERIL

Lewandowski's scored 21 Bundesliga goals this season, but he's also collected four yellow cards. Another here today would see him miss next weekend's top-of-the-table clash with Leipzig...

IF IT AINT BROKE

Bayern are lining up with the same XI in back-to-back games for the first time since Matchdays 33 and 34 of last season, when they sealed their seventh consecutive title on the final day, having been six points adrift at this juncture 12 months ago. With current leaders RB Leipzig hosting third-placed Borussia Mönchengladbach later today, Hansi Flick's side can move a provisional top with a win. The defending champions haven't been in that position since the end of October, and you have to go back a further four months for the last time they ended an entire matchday weekend on pole.

BOGEY MAN

The prospect of facing Bayern, and Robert Lewandowski in particular, will send shivers down the spine of Mainz. The Poland striker has scored 18 goals in as many games against the 05ers, including 15 in his last 14.

FORM BOOKS

Mainz are on a three-game losing run, since thrashing Werder Bremen 5-0 on Matchday 16. They're a point above the relegation play-off spot, while Bayern - on a five-match hot streak - can go top for the first time since the end of September with another win.
