VOLLAND MISSES THE TARGET

Fantastic football from Leverkusen as Demirbay plays a neat pass to Volland, who in turn finds Alario and he returns the favour to his strike partner. Volland fires a shot at goal from the edge of the box but drags it wide with his right foot.
79'

THE CAPTAIN FINALLY DOES IT!

Leverkusen have their goal and it took the captain to score it. A corner swings in from Demirbay and Kastenmeier can't deal with it. The ball drops to the back post where Lars Bender is waiting, and he slides it into the empty net.

HRADECKY DENIES FORTUNA AGAIN

Kownacki works the ball into the box and fires a shot at goal from the left side of the box. It forces Hradecky into making another fantastic reflex save to deny him. Leverkusen living on the edge right now.

HENNINGS DRAGS WIDE

A long ball into the box is headed down towards Hennings, who goes for goal with a first-time volley, but he drags it wide of the mark.
71'

GOAL-MOUTH SCRAMBLE!

The ball drops in the Fortuna box from a corner. Volland has a go with a header which is saved before the ball drops loose again. Baumgartlinger and S. Bender are the first to it but neither can keep a shot on target as the ball sails wide. Somehow Leverkusen have not scored a second goal in this second half. Will it come back to haunt them?
69'

VOLLAND FORCES A SAVE

The striker is afforded so much time and space as he brings the ball forward that he takes aim from all of 30 yards. It takes an awkward bounce on its way to goal and Kastenmeier is forced into a good diving save to deny the Leverkusen No.31.
67'

END-TO-END ENTERTAINMENT HERE

While Leverkusen continue to pour forward they are still missing their chances, which has clearly given the away side hope of getting back into it. The away side have been the better of the two in the last five minutes.
63'

WHAT A SAVE FROM HRADECKY

Hennings meets a cross from the left with a perfectly clipped shot at goal, but Hradecky produces a stunning reflex save to tip the ball around his near post with his fingertips. From the corner, Hennings collects the ball at the back post and fires a shot across goal, narrowly avoiding the crossbar on the way wide.
61'

LEVERKUSEN MISSING CHANCES GALORE

The home side are producing chance after chance but can't find the second goal. This time it's Diaby who crosses to Volland, but the ball is too high for him. Bellarabi controls and shoots, but it's easy for Kastenmeier.
59'

DIABY CURLS ONE WIDE

Huge chance on the counter for Leverkusen as Baumgartlinger wins the ball in midfield. It's a 3-on-2 for Volland with Diaby to his left and Havertz to his right. He goes left and Diaby curls a shot at goal on his left foot, but it bends just too far beyond the far post.
56'

AYHAN LETS A CHANCE SLIP

A corner for Fortuna is clearly one from the training ground as Ayhan slips to the back post to meet the deep cross. He's perfectly placed to meet it on the volley, but falls as he does so and the ball goes wide.
55'

VOLLAND HEADS OVER!

Demirbay sends an outstanding through ball down the left flank to Diaby, who then dinks it into the box. Volland rises to meet it with Bellarabi screaming for the ball behind him and the German forward can't keep his effort on target.
54'

BELLARABI FIRES OVER

The winger goes for it all himself having brought the ball inside from the right wing and towards the edge of the Fortuna box. He shoots across goal, but sends it too high and over the crossbar.
49'

BRIGHT START FROM BAYER

Diaby has already been played in behind the Fortuna defence twice down the left wing. Both of his crosses into the box have been snuffed out, but he's looking likely already.

HAVERTZ DOES THE JOB

"King Kai" as he known by Leverkusen fans is the man with the goal at half-time. He's now scored in two games in a row for the first time this season, and it's the 4th headed goal of his 28 in total. Leverkusen dominant in the first half and could easily be more than one goal ahead. Bellarabi and Diaby have been unstoppable once again with their pace and dribbling ability.

VOLLAND BLOCKS TAH!

What a chance as Demirbay's corner goes straight to Tah who volleys it at goal. It's heading for the bottom corner, but Volland is positioned right in front of it and the ball bounces away from goal off of his back. Baumgartlinger then heads at goal and a deflection forces a good save from Kastenmeier.
40'

PERFECT CROSS, PERFECT HEADER

It's as simple as that for Leverkusen as Bellarabi collects the ball on the left wing and picks out Havertz's run into the box. He lofts the ball towards him and Havertz beats Suttner to the ball and heads it beautifully beyond Kastenmeier. His second goal in as many weeks to start 2020, and fourth in total for the season.

BIG CHANCE FOR BELLARABI

Diaby is played in behind down the left wing and Bellarabi is free in the box for a cross. It comes in from the Frenchman and Kastenmeier comes out of his goal to close the angle to Bellarabi. In the end, the German winger doesn't even go for the ball because of the goalkeeper's movements and his teammates can't understand why. A big chance there goes begging.
36'

HENNINGS FIRES WIDE

Fortuna have had a few half-chances in this first half but Hennings has their first shot on goal. He fires wide of the mark though from range.
30'

ANOTHER CHANCE FOR BAYER

27'

BELLARABI SHOT CLEARED OFF THE LINE

Diaby races to collect a loose ball in the Fortuna box as it runs towards the byline and he reaches it, cutting the ball back into the box. Bellarabi controls around the penalty box and turns to shoot at goal. It bounces beyond Kastenmeier, but Suttner is on the line to clear it away.
25'

VOLLAND FLUFFS HIS LINES!

A Demirbay free-kick curls into the Fortuna box and bounces off Havertz towards Volland in space. He goes to slide it home on his right foot but slips as he does so, and can only send the ball into the side-netting of the away side's goal.
22'

FORTUNA PUSHING FORWARD

An offside is given in the build-up, but a nice move from the away side. Thommy is played in behind and plays the ball back to Zimmermann, whose shot is blocked behind. The away side are challenging Leverkusen across the pitch so far and making it difficult for them.
17'

BAYER ON TOP

Almost 75 per cent of the ball so far in this game has been controlled by the home side, but Kastenmeier has been untested until now.
10'

LEVERKUSEN FINDING THEIR FLOW

Bellarabi is sent away down the right and finds Havertz at the back post with Demirbay for support. They win a corner as the home side continue to pile on the pressure. Using their wing play which is so crucial with the pace of Diaby and Bellarabi on either flank.
8'

SLOW START HERE

Both sides figuring each other out and being able to keep their own goals in safety. Leverkusen, of course, controlling most of the possession as you'd expect from the home side. Havertz has been involved and is looking dangerous.

FORTUNA NOW BOTTOM

After Paderborn's win at Freiburg yesterday, Fortuna Düsseldorf are now bottom of the Bundesliga table on goal difference.

A CHANCE TO MOVE UP

The home side have the chance to move up ahead of Schalke in the Bundesliga table today, with a win taking Leverkusen into fifth spot ahead of the Royal Blues.

WERKSELF UNCHANGED

Leverkusen start with the same team in consecutive Bundesliga games for the first time since August 2019. Kevin Volland bagged a brace in last week's 4-1 win at Paderborn and has now featured in 50 competitive matches in a row for the club. Leon Bailey and Wendell are back among the subs.

ALL ON THOMMY?

Erik Thommy and Marcel Sobottka are the two new faces in this Fortuna side after last week's 1-0 loss to Bremen. Thommy has scored in each of Düsseldorf's last two wins against Union and Cologne, and is one of just two Fortuna players to score since the end of September. The last 11 goals have either come form him or Rouwen Hennings.
