AUGSBURG LOOKING OVER THEIR SHOULDERS

Stuttgart's draw with Nuremberg at the weekend means Augsburg still have a four-point gap over 16th, but they were very open for large parts of the game and ended up well beaten. They will need to tighten up as they look to stave off the threat of relegation, which is still in the back of their minds.

HOFFENHEIM UP TO 7TH

Hoffenheim are going home with the points today, and they're valuable ones indeed. They lift Nagelsmann's side up to seventh, a point behind Wolfsburg in sixth. The Champions League may be beyond them - there is an eight-point gap to Frankfurt in 4th - but this sets them up very well for the run-in.

CAN AUGSBURG BRING THIS BACK?

Hoffenheim have won on their last three visits to this ground and are on course for a fourth, unless Manuel Baum's team can muster a response. Let's see what they're made of in this half.

DYNAMIC DUO

Belfodil and Kramaric have been the difference today, and in recent weeks as well. Between them they have scored 18 of the team's last 26 goals, and ten of the last 11.
83'

A WEEK LATE

In last week's win against Leverkusen, Belfodil was denied a treble when Kramaric stole in to tap his team-mate's goalbound shot in from on the goalline. This week, Belfodil has his hat-trick, and it's more than deserved. He now nas nine goals in his last eight matches.

HAT-TRICK HERO BELFODIL!

Belfodil does get his third goal and he's going home with the match ball! Again it's a simple goal as he seizes on a high ball on halway and speeds away from the defender before rolling a left-foot shot into the corner.

FINNBOGASON DENIED BY THE FLAG

Augsburg think they have a route back into the game when Finnbogason slots calmly into the near post, but he's denied by the linesman's flag. That was a tight call.
75'

EIGHT IN EIGHT FOR BELFODIL

He could have had a hat-trick today, and he still might! Belfodil makes the game safe by running onto Florian Grillitsch's pass and poking past Kobel for 3-0. That's the points safe - and there could be more to come in the remaining quarter of an hour.

STATS TELL THE STORY

Julian Nagelsmann's side certainly merit the two-goal advantage today: Belfodil's goal was their 16th effort on goal.
61'

GAME SEWN UP?

This goal was certainly coming. In acres of space, Demirbay looks up and swings in a delicious cross that Belfodil stoops to head in at the far post. Augsburg have battled gamely in search of an equaliser but did not look they could keep it tight enough at the other end. That's seven goals in eight matches for Belfodil, meanwhile.

DANSO AND KOBEL TO THE RESCUE

Hoffenheim look very dangerous on the break still and they should be leading by two goals to nil here. Nico Schulz flashes a cross into the box that Danso clears from under his own crossbar, before Kaderabek's shot is blocked and Kerem Demirbay volleys wide. This is end to end stuff, and you feel the next goal is crucial.
52'

GREGORITSCH...WIDE!

What a chance this is! Gouweleeuw swings in a cross and Michael Gregoritsch is battling with Kaderabek at the far post. The Austrian wins the duel and connects with a strong header aimed to the far corner... but it's too high and Hoffenheim survive!
49'

BELFODIL DENIED AGAIN

A large space opens up in the home defence and Belfodil looks to be clear on goal. His first touch allows the defence to recover, and though he manages to get a shot off, it's easily claimed by Kobel.

ADVANTAGE HOFFENHEIM

The away side have the lead at the interval and deserve it after creating several good chances, but there was encouragement for Augsburg towards the end of that half. Join us shortly for the second 45 minutes!
45'

KOO'S SHOT BLOCKED

The introduction of Finbogason has given the home side something more to aim at here. He chests a pass down into the path of Ja-Cheol Koo, who obliges on the volley but sees his effort blocked. The ball makes its way out to Max, who sends in a cross, but Finnbogason is penalised for a push.
38'

RICHTER SHOOTS OVER

They haven't forced Oliver Baumann into a save yet, but the hosts come closer to doing that with some good attacking play here. Finnbogason pulls out wide and slips in a cute pass for Marco Richter, who cuts inside two challenges before curling over the bar.
28'

TACTICAL CHANGE

This is somewhat surprising. Oxford, who has had a difficult game so far, is withdrawn but not for a defender. Instead, Alfred Finbogason comes on and it looks like the hosts have gone to four at the back. The tactical change almost back-fires instantly as Belfodil is sent clear, in the area of the pitch vacated by Oxford, and shoots wastefully wide with team-mates waiting for a pass. Augsburg are fortunate the game is not already beyond them.
25'

KRAMARIC AND BELFODIL THWARTED!

This is an astonishing double save from Kobel, who, let's remember, is on loan from Hoffenheim at Augsburg! Belfodil powers into the box on the angle and drives one in low that the 'keeper beats out, before the ball is recycled to Kramaric at the far post. He's at a tight angle but strikes it cleanly with his left foot, only for Kobel to dive to his right and palm the ball onto the crossbar!
22'

HOSTS STRUGGLING

Hoffenheim, with the luxury of their one-goal lead, are keeping the home side at arm's length here. Oxford and Danso go for the same ball from a corner and it's cleared to safety.
14'

KRAMARIC LOVES THE RÜCKRUNDE

Here's another excellent statistic that underlines how good a player Kramaric is, especially when the business end of the season approaches: 36 of his 48 Bundesliga goals have been scored after the winter break.
11'

HOSTS TRY TO RESPOND

Augsburg have a free-kick and Kevin Danso almost gets on the end of Philipp Max's delivery. He can't get a shot away but he does win a corner, though it comes to nothing. Kramaric, by the way, has scored three in his last three appearances against the Fuggerstädter.
7'

KRAMARIC STRIKES!

In the form he's in, Andrej Kramaric isn't going to miss this! It's a well-worked goal for the visitors as Belfodil collects Kramaric's pass and fires low at goal. Kobel saves but the bal runs kindly into the path of the Croation and Hoffenheim's record Bundesliga scorer taps in for his 48th goal in club colours.
3'

KOBEL COLLECTS

Hoffenheim start the game well and Pavel Kaderabek makes a foraging run forward. He crosses into the box and the ball deflects off a defender's leg and into the arms of Augsburg 'keeper Gregor Kobel.

AWAY WE GO!

We're off and running in part one of Sunday's action!
Kick-off!

SZALAI COMES IN

Nelson's bad luck means there is a first start for Adam Szalai since the end of January, alongside Belfodil. Kramaric will attack from the wing, with Nadiem Amiri providing the attacking thrust on the other side.

STARTING BERTH FOR OXFORD

So there is a place in the starting XI for Oxford in what looks like a back three, alongside Kevin Danso and Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, with the on-loan West Ham man starting for the first time since his red card against Freiburg on Matchday 23. And it looks like a 3-4-2-1 formation for the hosts, mirroring that of their opponents today. Oxford's compariot Nelson is not fit enough for the bench today.

HOFFENHEIM XI

Baumann – Kaderabek, Vogt (c), Hübner – Amiri, Grillitsch, Demirbay, Schulz – Kramaric – Belfodil, Szalai

AUGSURG XI

Kobel - Oxford, Gouweleeuw, Danso - Schmid, Koo, Baier (c), Max - Gregoritsch, Richter - Ji

ENGLISHMEN ABROAD

Two young English talents could be in the matchday squads today, with Reece Oxford aiming to shake off a knock to play for Augsburg and Reiss Neison hopeful of featuring for Hoffenheim. The latter, on loan from Arsenal, scored his last Bundesliga goal in the reverse fixture back in Novemeber.

NO JOELINTON

Hoffenheim are without striker Joelinton, who suffered an ankle injuy this week, so Ishak Belfodil, a two-goal hero against Bayer, and Andrej Kramaric will lead the attack. Kramaric was also on target last week to score his 47th Bundesliga goal for the club, a club record in the top-flight.

HOFFENHEIM ON THE UP

The visitors, meanwhile, are seeking three points in their bid to qualify for Europe next season. Julian Nagelsmann's team have suffered just one defeat in their past nine Bundesliga games, but a joint-league-leading 11 draws has left them in ninth, four points behind Wolfsburg in sixth. After an impressive 4-1 win against Leverkusen last week, the Sinsheim outfit will be targeting another victory today.

AUGSBURG LOOKING TO BOUNCE BACK

Augsburg suffered a last-gasp home defeat to Leipzig in the DFB Cup quarter-final this week and will be looking to bounce back in front of their home fans. They are in the somewhat precarious position of 15th, but they do have a four-point cushion over Stuttgart.
