Nestled in the heart of one of Germany's most buzzing, prosperous cities, Stuttgart's Mercedes-Benz Arena can seat an impressive 60,000 fans - and usually does.

Indeed, VfB - as the club are locally known, standing for Verein für Bewegungsspiele (club for activities) - boasted a higher average attendance last season when in Bundesliga 2 than the champions of four major European leagues: Chelsea (England), Monaco (France), Juventus (Italy) and Feyenoord (the Netherlands).
