Schalke's Veltins Arena - the fourth biggest stadium in the Bundesliga and a place of regular pilgrimage for the massed ranks of royal-blue fans.
The arena was the first in Germany to be constructed with a retractable roof and comes complete with a hydraulically powered roll in, roll out pitch, while the super-size video cube suspended from the roof ensures the 62,271 capacity crowd never miss a second of the action.
Much like the stadium, the tunnel onto the pitch is truly one-of-a-kind. It's design is based on a coal shaft - a nod to the old mining communities of Gelsenkirchen.
Indeed, the Veltins Arena is as much a part of the local community as the mines were in times gone by.
