A modern-day goalkeeper does not just have to be good with his hands – he needs to have sound feet too, as Mainz custodian Robin Zentner discovered almost to his cost on Saturday...

Zentner is the fourth goalkeeper to guard the Mainz goal since Loris Karius left in 2016, and his commanding debut performance in the derby draw with Eintracht Frankfurt meant he was an automatic pick for their trip to Borussia Mönchengladbach on Matchday 11.

His luck almost run out after half an hour, however, when the above happened…

"It's incredible," Zentner told Sky afterwards. "I received the ball and then I look to see who I can pass to. I saw Jean (Gbamin) and maybe I saw something white [the penalty spot] out of the corner of my eye and I think that's the ball, but then I don't feel anything when I try to kick it."

Keep your eye on the ball, Robin!
