Mario Gomez scored the only goal of the game away to Augsburg on Matchday 23 to help VfB Stuttgart collect three crucial points in their efforts to stave off the drop.
Speaking after the final whistle, the 32-year-old striker gave his thoughts to bundesliga.com: "I think the most important thing is the character of the team. I said it a few weeks ago, we have a really close-knit team and we were fighting for the 90 minutes – or rather for the 94 minutes for this victory. In the end we should have won 3-0 or 4-0, not just 1-0. So I'm really happy."
