Hertha Berlin 2-1 Hamburg

Goals: 1-0 Stark (17'), 2-0 Rekik (50'), 2-1 Arp (72')

Hertha took an early lead through defender Niklas Stark, who was given a free run to head home Marvin Plattenhardt’s in-swinging corner. The capital club largely kept HSV at arm's length for the rest of the half, with Douglas Santos' long-range strike, which forced Rune Jarstein into evasive action, the visitors' only effort of note.

Hamburg were left with a mountain to climb shortly after the restart as Karim Rekik met a Mitchell Weiser corner to double Hertha's lead. Substitute Jann-Fiete Arp gave HSV a lifeline, volleying in from Kyriakos Papadopoulos to become the first millennial to score in the Bundesliga. The goal lifted the visitors, but Hertha held on to leave Hamburg without a win since Matchday 2.
