Goals: 1-0 Füllkrug (59'), 2-0 Harnik (86')
The two sides were fighting with the conditions as heavy snow fell down over the Lower Saxony capital, and certain players' choice of footwear proved questionable as they struggled to remain on their feet. Ihlas Bebou did manage to get in a shot, which was blocked, but the greater danger was marginally created by Hoffenheim, who had the ball in the back of the net through Nadiem Amiri, only for the offside flag to cut short his celebrations.
The lines were cleared by groundstaff during the interval, but Charlison Benschop probably had not picked the longer-studded variants of his boots as he slid away as he shot tamely towards Oliver Baumann. A more direct approach led to glory for the hosts as Bebou's cross was headed in by Niclas Füllkrug, who opened the scoring on the hour mark. Andrej Kramaric squandered an opportunity to level immediately as Hoffenheim sent proverbial snowballs raining in on the Hannover goal, but there was to be no way through and Martin Harnik struck on the break late on to earn the reds their first win in five.
