Full-time: Dynamo Dresden 3-3 Karlsruhe SC

That's full time in Dresden. A thrilling match with many chances on both sides ends with a thoroughly deserved 3-3 draw. Karlsruhe dominated after an early Dresden goal in the first half, but in the second half, the home side turned it up and got their just share of the spoils thanks to goals from Daferner and Lemmer.

Last chance for Dresden?

Dresden have a free kick near the halfway line after a foul from Beifus. But it fizzles out after a weak cross. And so the full-time whistle blows.

Kutschke goes into the book

The striker went into the situation a bit wound up and provoked a gathering of players. For this, he sees yellow.

Beifus has to foul there

Karlsurhe launch another counter, but not effectively enough. Then Dresden want to attack quickly, Lemmer is almost through on the sideline. Beifus can't keep up and simply commits a foul, taking one for the team.

HAUPTMANN!

Cross from the right, Kutschke lays it off with his chest to the right to Hauptmann, who turns and shoots from distance - Bernat stretches and fishes the ball out! That was close!

LEMMER WITH A LATE PUNCH!

A long ball flies into the six-yard box, where striker Kutschke is somewhat knocked over, but the second ball falls to Lemmer on the half-right, who takes it to the side, turns and smashes it low into the left corner of the net. It's 3-3! Unebelievable!

xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals > xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals > goals).
In terms of the quality of chances as per xGoals, both teams are now almost on the same level, however, the visitors have struck thrice from their chances thus far.

Straight into the action!

Lemmer sprints down the right and delivers a sharp cross from the edge of the penalty area. Near the penalty spot, Kother aims to strike, but like Daferner before him, he doesn't connect properly with the ball. The ball slides past the left of the goal and out of play.
69'

New attackers into the action

With Lemmer and Kother, Stamm brings two new wing speedsters onto the pitch. Fröling moves to the centre-forward spot.
65'

Difficult to reach

Hauptmann runs towards the goal centrally and decides to play a through ball from about 30 metres out. Daferner makes a diagonal run, but the Dresden captain put too much weight on the pass and the goalscorer has no chance of reaching that.
64'

Dresden remain undeterred

The hosts attack down the right, Faber crosses - sailing over everyone. Fröling secures the ball on the left, sends Boeder into the penalty area. He gets caught up.
61'

Karlsruhe strike again!

It is the visitors who strike back! With their first attack in over ten minutes - Pinto Pedrosa comes out wide on the right, crosses from almost the corner flag at half-height to the edge of the six-yard box, where Schleusener runs in and volleys the ball into the net. Brilliant combination!

Dynamo under pressure

So far this season, Dresden haven't ever been in the bottom three, but due to results around them, they have temporarily slipped to 16th place. Only a victory would haul Dresden above the relegation threshold again.

More on that Dynamo side

Dynamo's coach Thomas Stamm opts to field the same starting XI as the one he selected for the recent defeat in Darmstadt. Vincent Vermeij, one of Dynamo's top signings, is still absent.

More on that Karlsruhe side

Christian Eichner makes just the one change to his starting XI that downed Magdeburg 1-0 at home last week. Andreas Müller, who has been ever-present in the starting line-up as a defensive midfielder, is sitting on the bench for the first time. Burnić, the former Dresden player, starts in his place - the midfielder played his first 34 second division matches for Dynamo between early 2019 and summer 2020.
camera-photo

Christian Eichner on facing Dynamo Dresden

"We need a good mix of sexy and unsexy. We need to be strong, without it getting out of control."
camera-photo

Thomas Stamm on facing Karlsruhe

"We want to approach it like the last few matches. It will be important that we start the match well and then reward ourselves for a strong opening phase. We will of course change a few things compared to Darmstadt and then it's up to us to secure our first home victory."

Special reunion

Karlsruhe's defensive leader Marcel Franke is a Dresden native, and made his professional debut in the 3rd division for Dynamo at 17 years of age, going on to play 18 Bundesliga 2 matches for them.

Long Dry Spell

Karlsruhe's last away win in Dresden was 21 years ago. In the 2-1 victory in September 2004 in Bundesliga 2, Sean "Crocodile" Dundee scored for the Baden side and Mario Eggimann (now sporting director) played the full 90 minutes. Since then, there have been four home wins for Dresden and two draws in Karlsruhe.
camera-photo

Only one defeat

Dynamo have collected seven points in the last three matches against Karlsruhe, only losing one of the last seven games against them (2-4 at the Wildpark in August 2019).
camera-photo

Fairly divided

Both teams have met 14 times in Bundesliga 2, both winning five and scoring 25 goals, whilst playing out four draws.
