Frustration
Lubach and Justvan are frustrated with how the match is unfolding and complain too vehemently, with each shown a yellow card.
79'
Super Sub
Michel has scored all four of his goals this season after coming off the bench.
77'
Michel! 3-1!
Kwasniok's substitutes make an impact, as Nürnberg's keeper blunders! Reichert lets Curda's cross slip through his hands. Michel is on the spot and pokes the ball in for his fourth goal of the season.
76'
Nuremberg pattern
Nuremberg have already lost five times this season after taking the lead - will it happen for the sixth time now?
74'
No shot
Schellers' forceful challenge gives Nuremberg a free kick from the right half of the pitch, but former Paderborn player Justvan fails to find a teammate with his delivery.

Kwasniok shuts up shop...
... and brings on defender Curda for midfielder Mehlem.

There's the chance for 2-2! Lubach's cross from the left is met by Emreli six metres from goal, but he shoots over the bar.

Ansah!
Michel crosses from the left to his strike partner. The first touch is poor, however, and Reichert collects the ball.

First corner
After more than an hour, Nürnberg finally gets to cross from the quarter circle. Lubach's delivery from the left flies untouched to the right wing.

Klose also makes a substitution
And it's an offensive one: left winger Forkel comes on for centre-back Karafiát.

Michel, a fresh 34-year-old, comes on for the struggling 34-year-old.

No pace
Nuremberg pass the ball too sluggishly from right to left when in possession. This approach won't break down the compact Paderborn defence.

Ansah marauding
This time the goalscorer gets to a header after a cross from the left half-space, but he puts it narrowly wide of the right-hand post.

Paderborn want more
Nuremberg are struggling to muster a response, and the visitors look to follow up immediately. However, Ansah's dribble on the left doesn't get him through.

After a Paderborn corner, the experienced striker has stayed down and is now receiving treatment.

Good Reaction
His yellow card in the first half was the fifth for Ansah this season. He will have to watch from the stands suspended next week, but today he has gifted his team what could be a precious goal here.

Ansah smashes it in! Paderborn take the lead!
This time it's Paderborn who shoot out of the gates! Zehnter passes to Ansah on the left side of the penalty area. He cuts inside, feints once and then sends a powerful shot into the bottom left corner!

Obermair tries his luck
The Paderborn captain shoots from distance. It's a bobbling effort, but Reichert has no problems.

Half-time: Nuremberg 1-1 Paderborn
Nuremberg started at a rapid pace, scoring with their first shot but, after Castrop's apparently serious injury, Paderborn used the momentum to equalise. Subsequently, the teams neutralised each other - perhaps there will be more of a spectacle in the second half.

Zehnter again!
Same pattern from a corner on the right: Zehnter loses his man again and fires his half-volley into a crowd of players, where the ball is deflected - Reichert then makes a safe catch.
44'
Off Target
The visitors play a free-kick from the left wing flat to the inside. Zehnter shoots from the edge of the penalty area, but it goes clearly over the bar.

Inaccurate
Riemann intercepts Janders' imprecise pass into the final third. Paderborn's keeper hasn't had anything else to do since conceding the early goal.

That was Emreli's fifth goal in Bundesliga 2 - and the fourth cooked up by Justvan.

Paderborn press high and almost score an easy goal through Grimaldi. Reichert just manages to clear the ball out of the six-yard box ahead of the onrushing Paderborn player.

Nuremberg want more
Again, they move quickly through the middle, but Justvan narrowly fails to reach the ball.

Don't blink
For the Franconians, it was their fastest goal in over three years - in January 2022, Nuremberg also scored in the second minute, against Düsseldorf.

Electric atmosphere
Shortly before kick-off, Nuremberg fans unfurled a large banner featuring legendary personalities from the club's history - this seems to have inspired the players to something special.

Lightning start! Nuremberg take the lead!
The hosts score with their first shot: Emreli is sent through on goal, rounds Riemann and slides the ball into the empty net from a slightly tight angle on the left side of the penalty area!

Paderborn have kicked off and are playing in their away kits. Nürnberg are traditionally dressed in red and black.
Kick-off!
Onto the pitch!
The teams are entering the pitch at the atmospheric and sun-drenched Max-Morlock-Stadion.
Comeback?
Calvin Brackelmann has been out injured since early March but is now back in the squad. The 1.96-metre/6'4" defender was Paderborn's hero in the first leg, heading in the winning goal from a corner to make it 3-2 in the sixth minute of stoppage time while his team was down to ten men.
Chance for Hansen
Mattes Hansen has had ten brief appearances in the second division this season - Paderborn's defensive midfielder is starting for the first time since March 2024.

Kwasniok rings changes again
The departing manager is known for his fondness for rotation - in the 13th match of the second half of the season, Lukas Kwasniok makes at least three changes for the ninth time. Mehlem, Ansah and Hansen move into the starting XI, replacing Curda, Herrmann (both on the bench) and Castaneda (suspended).
Jander is back
Only change for FCN compared to the away win at the Betzenberg: Caspar Jander has served his suspension and replaces Lukas Schleimer in the starting XI. Captain Robin Knoche and goalscorer Stefanos Tzimas remain sidelined.
This is how Paderborn line up:
Riemann - Götze, Scheller, Hoffmeier - Obermair, Mehlem, Hansen, Zehnter - Ansah - Grimaldi, Bilbija
Nürnberg's starting XI
Reichert - Drexler, Gruber, Karafiát - Janisch, Jander, Lubach, Yilmaz - Justvan, Castrop - Mahir Emreli
What Klose says
"It is difficult to prepare for Paderborn, as they can play with many variations. We expect a very tough opponent."

Madness: Paderborn keeper suddenly becomes striker!
Justvan against his former club
During Nuremberg's last home victory against Paderborn in November 2022 (2-1), Julian Justvan scored for Paderborn. Justvan played for the East Westphalians from 2020 to 2023, making his first 96 appearances in the Bundesliga 2 for them and scoring eight goals.
Down to ten men? No problem!
Nuremberg last won against Paderborn in November 2023, winning 3-1 away from home with ten men (red card for Jens Castrop).
Red card and record!
In the first game, the score was 2-2 when Adriano Grimaldi (who has scored in each of the last three matches against the hosts) saw red in the 78th minute for an elbow on Finn Jeltsch. With a man down, Calvin Brackelmann headed Paderborn to their historic first home victory against Nuremberg in stoppage time.
Nuremberg's record against Paderborn
Nuremberg have won eight of their twelve competitive matches against Paderborn (11 in the Bundesliga 2 and once in the DFB Cup) - but in the last two encounters, Paderborn celebrated two victories.
