Full-time: Elversberg 0-1 Münster
And now the final whistle! Hildmann's plan worked perfectly: his Münster side stood firm at the back, and a set-piece was enough for the narrow 1-0 victory. Elversberg had more possession, but couldn't create truly clear-cut chances. This was mainly due to the disciplined defending of Münster, who also had a bit of luck on their side in the end. These are three crucial points in the relegation battle!

Nearly the equaliser!
Feil receives a high ball, spots Asllani in the middle and plays it cleanly straight to his feet. His finish lacks power as it reaches the goal.

Little threat remaining
The match has become a bit disjointed now. Not even the free-kick awarded to Elversberg from a promising position on the right flank creates any danger. The cross is far too short and can be cleared without any problems.

The tactics are working
Münster has made it difficult for Elversberg to play and defended with full commitment. A corner then led to the 1-0 from the visitors' perspective, who likely envisioned this exact match plan.

Of course, a set-piece

The away team have the lead!
The away fans are going wild, and it's all thanks to a corner from Münster. The cross keeps curling and flies over the heads of the players positioned in the six-yard box. Scherder suddenly finds himself completely unmarked at the far post and taps it in.
69'
Brilliantly played
Excellent one-two in tight space between Damar and Asllani, but the shot lacks accuracy!
66'
Immediately in the spotlight
The substitute creates danger straight away. Asllani supplies the newly introduced Feil in the penalty area, where he tries to lay it off for Damar. A good idea, but the ball is played behind his teammate and the chance fizzles out.

Fantastic atmosphere
While the match on the pitch is picking up pace, the fans have been fully involved since the first minute. Both sides are creating a great atmosphere; constantly driving their teams forward with chants. Particularly atmospheric is the away section, which is currently located right at the halfway line due to the stadium renovations.
55'
More action in the penalty area
It's a clear path for Baum but Kirkeskov throws himself into the shot and clears the situation.
52'
Double chance for the hosts!
Petkov races with the ball to the byline, spoting Asllani in the space behind. His ball is able to be cleared, but lands directly at Damar's feet. He lifts the ball over the opponent's toe with a small lob, allowing him to get a free shot - which then flies just over the crossbar. There's fire in this second half!
48'
Crossbar!
That's the best chance for Preußen so far. Pick receives the ball from about 25 yards out and takes a venomous shot. The ball takes a slight deflection and flies at full speed towards the goal. The crossbar rattles, but the opener remains elusive!
47'
Miscontrolled
Petkov wins the ball during Münster's build-up play and immediately threads it through to Zimmerschied, who miscontrols it. This was likely due to the pitch conditions, which prevented a clear-cut chance there.

Half-time: Elversberg 0-0 Münster
Münster are playing well, holding their own against the favourites in Elversberg. Especially at the start, the visitors impressed with a committed performance and have been defending with discipline since then. At times, the attacking quality of Elversberg's offensive line has shone through, though they haven't been able to convert their created chances into anything tangible yet. It's 0-0 at the break, which is a fair scoreline.

Nearly the opener!
Koulis tries to dribble out of his own half but loses the ball to Petkov. He spots Damar making a run, who then chips the ball over Schenk, but it goes just wide of the goal. It was a good attempt, though there was a teammate completely unmarked to the left!

To sum up ...
Münster are playing with concentration and discipline, started the match well and have more possession. However, as soon as Elversberg get the ball, they show their footballing class and consequently create more dangerous chances in front of goal.
13'
Münster pushing
Kinsombi powers through on the right flank and delivers a cross into the penalty area. It doesn't find anyone; on the contrary, Friðjónsson goes down after an aerial duel and initially stays down. However, he's able to continue playing shortly after.

VBL: The Club Championship final is coming up!
Horst Steffen's view on Münster
"Münster have a good playing structure, presses high and tries to put pressure on the opponent during build-up play. So far this season, Preußen has had only four fewer big chances than us. That's also significant and shows that they have quality going forward."
Sascha Hildmann's view on Elversberg
"They always manage to bring in players from lower leagues who adapt to the level immediately. I say hats off to them. Horst Steffen is also doing an outstanding job there, otherwise it wouldn't be going so well. Additionally, there's a lot of calm in the club, you don't hear anything negative. For me, it's no secret why things are going so well there."
Steffen's Münster past
Horst Steffen became the manager of Preußen Münster in the 3. Liga on Christmas Eve 2015. He took over the Eagles as the successor to Ralf Loose with the team in ninth place, and they finished ninth at the end of the season. His time in Münster came to an end in October 2016.

It's been a while
The last encounter at Kaiserlinde ended in a 2-2 draw in August 2013 in the 3. Liga. Elversberg last won against Münster 15 years ago (1-0 away in April 2010 in the Regionalliga West), with their only home victory against Preußen coming in November 2008 (also 1-0 in the Regionalliga, with Roger Schmidt as Münster's manager).
Münster on a run
Münster are unbeaten in five competitive matches against Elversberg (three wins, two draws). The Eagles have celebrated eight victories in the 15 competitive encounters between the two teams, and have only lost twice.
