Full-time: Paderborn 2-0 Münster

Paderborn take a deserved win after a much-improved showing in the second half. Ansah made all the difference, the substitute setting up the opener before adding a goal of this own. Paderborn climb to fifth, for now at least, while Münster stay two points outside the bottom three ahead of the weekend's remaining fixtures.

There it is! Ansah drives down the left and crosses into the box for Mehlem to stroke home from near the penalty spot. It had been coming!

Almost the breakthrough

Paderborn think they've taken the lead, but the referee had already blown his whistle. Ansah had committed a foul in the build-up. Mehlem then receives a yellow card for dissent.

Woodwork!

Michel drives the ball up the left, but is stopped by the opponent at the byline. The resulting corner whizzes past friend and foe alike, before Michel lays it off to Mehlem. His right-footed shot crashes against the left post. By far the most exciting moment of the match!

Long-ball game

Münster are trying to build up play from the back, starting with their own goalkeeper. However, Paderborn, with Michel and Co., are closing down all avenues. As a result, the visitors have had to resort to playing more long balls than they would like.

Bilbija's barren spell

In case some are rubbing their eyes in confusion: Filip Bilbija is Paderborn's top scorer with five goals, but he hasn't found the back of the net in 14 matches and is a substitute for the first time this season today.

Two changes for Münster

Bazzoli and Mees start for Koulis and Kyerewaa (bench) for Münster, who'll be hoping to play right until the final whistle after conceding in stoppage time in defeats to Kaiserslautern and Hamburg.

Three changes

Castaneda, Michel and Klaas start in place of Hoffmeier, Bilbija and Terho (all on the bench), in the only changes to the team that beat Ulm.

Münster starting XI

Schenk - Bazzoli, Paetow, Frenkert - ter Horst, Hendrix, Kirkeskov - Kinsombi, Mees - Amenyido, Pick

Paderborn starting XI

Schubert - Klaas, Götze, Brackelmann - Obermair, Scheller, Zehnter - Castaneda, Mehlem - Michel, Grimaldi

Lukas Kwasniok on facing Preußen

"The Münster players fight for every ball and throw themselves in the way of every shot. Going forward, they play very direct football, so I expect a match with a lot of action in the penalty area."

Preußen Münster boss Sascha Hildmann's thoughts

"[Paderborn] are very strong offensively and have many players in their ranks who can be really dangerous up front. It's going to be a very tough and difficult match. We need to prevent, and defend against, crosses. There will also be phases in this game where we'll have to suffer. Nevertheless, we want to have longer spells of possession."

Striker in focus

Paderborn man Adriano Grimaldi has not scored as often for any other club in his career as Preußen Münster. In two-and-a-half years between 2016 and 2018, he netted 30 goals in 71 third-division matches for the club.

Good omen

Paderborn are unbeaten in six competitive matches against Münster (four wins, two draws), having won their last four home head-to-head games. Münster's last victory against Paderborn came in April 2009 in the semi-final of the Westphalia Cup (3-2), while their last away win was in October 1998 in the Regionalliga (3-1).

The reverse fixture

Paderborn and Münster are sharing a Bundesliga 2 season for the first time. The meeting between the two in Münster earlier this season was a wild ride, finishing 3-3 after the lead changed hands several time as Joshua Mees completed his brace to equalise in stoppage time for the Eagles.
