Unusual bench warmer

Braunschweig's top scorer Rayan Philippe is sitting on the bench at the start of a competitive match for the first time since 8 December 2023. On that occasion, he was substituted on at the beginning of the second half in a 3-1 victory in Wiesbaden and turned the game around with an assist and a goal.

Bormuth back in the starting lineup

Robin Bormuth is in the Karlsruhe starting lineup for the first time since his cruciate ligament rupture in March 2024. After the winter break, following his comeback, he had previously made two brief appearances as a substitute.

Milestone match for Hoffmann

Eintracht goalkeeper Ron-Thorben Hoffmann is playing his 50th second-division match today (48 for Braunschweig, two for Schalke).

Four changes for Braunschweig

Eintracht manager Daniel Scherning makes four changes to his starting XI compared to the last match (a 1-2 home defeat to Cologne): Baas, Dräger, Szabó and Tachie start in place of Köhler (suspended due to yellow cards), Rittmüller, Philippe and Polter (all on the bench).

Karlsruhe make three changes

Karlsruhe manager Christian Eichner makes three changes to his starting line-up compared to the last match (a 2-2 draw at Elversberg): Bormuth, Burnić and Jensen come in for Franke (not in the squad), Conté and Egloff (both on the bench).

Eintracht's starting XI

Hoffmann - Ivanov, Bičakčić, Ehlers - Dräger, Baas, Di Michele Sanchez - Gómez, Tempelmann - Szabó, Tachie

Karlsruhe's starting XI

Weiß - Jung, Bormuth, Beifus, Herold - Jensen - Burnić, Heußer, Wanitzek - Schleusener, Kaufmann

Christian Eichner on facing Braunschweig

"When you haven't collected three points yet in the second half of the season, then the entire dressing room, the coaching staff, the club and the spectators are all striving for the match to be won."

Daniel Scherning on facing Karlsruhe

"We expect a very compact team with clear patterns of play. They have shown in recent matches that they possess a lot of character. We expect them to carry the momentum from the closing stages of the last matchday into their home game against us. They have a very hard-running and intelligent midfield. Up front, they have strikers with a lot of depth."

Historic loss

Braunschweig suffered their heaviest defeat in Bundesliga 2 against Karlsruhe (7-0 at the Wildpark in May 2006.

Difficult matches at the Wildpark

Karlsruhe have lost only one of their last 17 competitive home matches against Eintracht (10 wins, six draws). However, Braunschweig have managed to earn points in five of their last six visits to the Wildpark (five draws). The Lions' last away victory in Karlsruhe was in August 2011 (3-1 in Bundesliga 2).

On equal terms

The last six encounters between these two teams in Bundesliga 2 have been an even affair with two wins apiece, plus two draws, six goals scored for both. Karlsruhe came from behind to win the reverse fixture 2-1.
