Leroy Sane: Schalke to the core
The son of former 1. FC Nürnberg and SG Wattenscheid 09 striker Souleyman Sane, Leroy Sane (pictured) is building his own legacy in the Bundesliga with FC Schalke 04.
Despite joining Schalke's
Knappenschmiede youth academy for the first time in 2005, it wasn't until 2011, following a three-year spell at Bayer 04 Leverkusen, that Sane began to show his true potential for the Royal Blues.
After helping take the Schalke Under-19s all the way to the 2013/14 U-19 UEFA Youth League semi-finals, Sane eventually made his Bundesliga debut in a 3-1 defeat to VfB Stuttgart on 20 April 2014.
Sane grabbed his first Bundesliga goal on Matchday 15 of the 2014/15 campaign, albeit in a 2-1 home defeat to 1. FC Köln.
Sane (l.) became Schalke's joint-youngest UEFA Champions League goalscorer after curling home a stunning effort against Real Madrid CF in the 2014/15 Round of 16. The Royal Blues were knocked out, however, losing 5-4 on aggregate.
The 19-year-old super-talent scored three goals in as many Bundesliga matches between 20 and 26 September 2015.
