Top-flight stars’ second loves
Thomas Müller (FC Bayern München): Golf is a really good change of pace to normal training and a great opportunity to clear your head.
Marcel Schäfer (VfL Wolfsburg): US sports - the NBA, NHL, but above all the NFL and the New York Giants - fascinate me. When I'm on holiday I try to go to live events, otherwise I lend my support in front of the television.
Branimir Hrgota (Borussia Mönchengladbach): If I hadn't decided to become a footballer I would most likely have played handball. I always enjoyed the intensity of the sport as a kid, which is why I intensively followed the World Cup in Qatar and had my fingers crossed for Sweden and Croatia.
Stefan Kießling (Bayer 04 Leverkusen): My favourite secondary sport is basketball because I grew up surrounded by it in my home town of Bamberg.
Matija Nastasic (FC Schalke 04): I'm a big basketball fan. When time allows for it, I love to get out on the court and shoot a few hoops. Otherwise I enjoy following what happens on the television. Outside of football it's the sport that appeals to me the most.
Daniel Baier (FC Augsburg): I'm a big fan of the American sports, above all basketball and American football. I've always gone to NBA and NFL games on my holidays in recent years. Of course I stayed up to watch the Super Bowl. It takes me a while to go to bed after a game, so staying up wasn't an issue after our game against Hoffenheim.
Tobias Strobl (TSG 1899 Hoffenheim): I really enjoy playing golf in my free time - with team-mates such as Kevin Volland as well. I've played golf since I was a youngster and was even crowned the Bavarian Champion as a 15-year-old.
Kevin Trapp (Eintracht Frankfurt): I'm a big fan of watching tennis on the TV. It's a really exciting sport which can often be decided by the smallest of details and forces the players to give it absolutely everything over the course of several hours.
Felix Kroos (SV Werder Bremen): I really enjoy playing golf personally and try to catch Tiger Woods in action as much as possible. Dirk Nowitzski's involvement was what brought basketball to my attention and I'm now a regular viewer of the NBA.
Nuri Sahin (Borussia Dortmund): Basketball! I follow the NBA as much as I can. Due to the time difference, most of the time I end up looking up the scores and reading reports from the games on the internet. I also like playing NBA on my games console as it makes a nice change to football.
Salif Sane (Hannover 96): I love basketball and the NBA. I've been a fan of the Boston Celtics for several years now. It's a spectacular sport with a lot of cool characters - that without a doubt is something I can appreciate.
Gonzalo Jara (1. FSV Mainz 05): About five years ago I started getting really interested in BMX racing and have my own BMX bike at home. Taking into the account the acrobatic stunts and the speed at which they race, an adrenalin boost is guaranteed.
Daniel Halfar (1. FC Köln): After football, ice hockey is my favourite sport. I was born in Mannheim and often went to Adler Mannheim games growing up.
Änis Ben-Hatira (Hertha Berlin: Football and Hertha Berlin are, in all honesty, my life...however, if I were to watch anything else then I'd end up getting excited about basketball. The NBA fascinates me, while back home I go to ALBA BERLIN games every now and again.
Valon Behrami (Hamburger SV): My favourite sport after football is basketball - an unbelievably intense and athletic sport, which is always played at full throttle. Teams are able to erase big deficits in a matter of no time. I really enjoy following the NBA.
Marvin Bakalorz (SC Paderborn 07): My second favourite sports is without a doubt American Football. As a fan of American sports I love this discipline in particular because it's a very physically demanding contact sport.
Felix Klaus (SC Freiburg): Tennis. I catch all the action from the Grand Slams on the television and during my time off I love playing against my dad.
Christian Gentner (VfB Stuttgart): Alongside football, when it comes to watching sports I really enjoy watching NBA games. Naturally I've got my fingers especially crossed for the Dallas Mavericks and Dirk Nowitzski.
