Thrills and spills
When the Official Bundesliga Magazine asked the stars of the Bundesliga what one thing they'd recommend others to experience, this is what they said...
Philipp Lahm: (r.) "Hold up the Champions League trophy on the balcony of the town hall in Munich wearing Lederhosen and showing the spoils to 25,000 fans. An amazing feeling." (© Imago)
Kevin Großkreutz "Cheer in the south stand at Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park and being part of the Gelbe Wand, soaking up the atmosphere - there's nothing like it in the world." Not everyone agrees, though...
Javier Pinola: "Go to Argentina and watch a River Plate game live, or a Boca Juniors game at La Bombonera. The atmosphere that the fans create during games there is indescribable. The songs, the colours, the noise - it gives you goosebumps, you just have to witness it."
Rafael van der Vaart (r.) : "Play football with your son. For me, it is one of the most beautiful moments when I can grab a ball and go outside with my son and kick it around. Seeing his happiness always inspires me to carry on." (© Imago)
Ralf Fährmann: "Go to a Formula 1 race, because the sounds of the cars racing by and the speeds they travel at send shivers down your spine."
Leon Andreasen: "As an enthusiastic golfer, I'd say to hit a hole-in-one. I've managed it once and I'll never forget it: 10 June 2010. I used an 8 iron and it flew in perfectly on hole 13 (Par 3) on a course in Portugal. I just felt euphoric."
Bas Dost: "Visit the Kruger National Park in South Africa. I was there four or five years ago and it was an overwhelming experience. I went on a safari and all of a sudden the animals were right next to us. What impressed me most were the rhinos, I'll definitely go back again."
Sven Ulreich "Visit Robben Island in South Africa. Nelson Mandela was imprisoned there for 18 years and it really makes you think about life when you visit the cell in where he was confined. It’s even more impressive how he dealt with the situation, forgiving people and seeking no retribution. I would love to have met him."
Tony Jantschke: "Go to New York. It’s a breath-taking city and a must-visit location. Unfortunately I’ve only been once and only stayed five days, but it was a great experience."
Roberto Hilbert: "Go bungee-jumping. It's absolutely exhilarating, at least for me."
