Munich - No sooner has one season ended than thoughts start turning to the next one. FC Bayern Munich's 3-2 victory over VfB Stuttgart in Saturday's DFB Cup final also served to establish the contestants in the 2013 Supercup, which will see Germany's domestic double-winners take on Borussia Dortmund.
The season curtain-raiser will be hosted by Dortmund this year, on 27 July, pitting together the Bundesliga's top two teams in a repeat of the recent UEFA Champions League final at Wembley. The Supercup is normally contested between the league champions and DFB Cup winners, but with Bayern winning both - emulating Dortmund in 2011/12, the Bundesliga runners-up step in as the opposition.
The 2012 Supercup also saw FC Bayern and Dortmund go head-to-head, at the Allianz Arena in Munich, with the hosts edging that one 2-1. In doing so, they ended a five-game competitive losing streak against their Yellow-Black rivals - and set the tone for the all-conquering campaign to come.
