- Gladbach in Pot 1 for Champions League play-off draw.
- Foals avoid Pep Guardiola's Man City; could face AS Roma.
- Ten play-off winners progress to group stage.
Borussia Mönchengladbach are among the five teams seeded in Pot 1 for the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League play-off draw in Nyon on Friday (12:00CEST/10:00GMT).
Despite missing out on automatic qualification after finishing fourth in the Bundesliga last season, Gladbach have avoided having to play the likes of Pep Guardiola's Manchester City FC and Dutch giants AFC Ajax due to their higher coefficient ranking over the other clubs in the league route section of the draw, drawn in Pot 2.
The Foals will, therefore, face a two-legged tie against one of AS Roma, FC Steaua Bucuresti, AS Monaco FC, BSC Young Boys or FC Rostov for the right to compete in the group stage.
The first legs will be played on 16/17 August, with the return fixtures scheduled for 23/24 August.
The ten play-off winners will join the 22 automatic entrants in the group stage.
