Dortmund - Laying on the first goal and scoring the winner himself in Borussia Dortmund’s 2-1 UEFA Europa League win over FC Krasnodar made it a first-team debut to remember for new recruit Joo-Ho Park.

In an interview after Thursday’s opening group stage game, the South Korean international expressed his joy at helping Dortmund to a club record tenth straight competitive win to start the season and his hopes for his first season at BVB after switching from 1. FSV Mainz 05.

Question: Joo-Ho Park: You’ve played your first game in a BVB shirt. How was it?

Joo-Ho Park: Playing in front of this army of fans and in a world-famous stadium like this – it’s a great feeling for me. It motivated me to really give my best.

'The win is what counts'

Question: You crowned your debut by assisting a goal and then scoring the winner – things couldn’t have gone any better for you. Did the goal make you proud?

Joo-Ho Park: The important thing is that we’ve won the first game of the group. Being able to play my part in that makes it all the sweeter. It was an unbelievable feeling when the ball hit the back of the net, but the win for the team is what counts.

Question: You started in an attacking position on the left and then moved further back. Where do you feel most comfortable playing?

Joo-Ho Park: I can play both positions and I was ready to have to do that. I did that at Mainz so I know what it’s like. It was a tough game here, but switching positions in the middle of the game wasn’t a problem. I’ll continue to do y best in what every position the coach decided to play me.

'The atmosphere is amazing'

Question: You have been in Dortmund for three weeks now. What are your first impressions?

Joo-Ho Park: The first thing you notice here s obviously the stadium and the fans. The atmosphere is just amazing and I’ve been given a great welcome by the team. All my team-mates have been really help from the minute I got here and they’ve really made it easy for me to integrate myself here. That’s all lead to what you saw out on the pitch.

Question: After such a successful debut, do you anticipate being in the starting line-up more often?

Joo-Ho Park: I’m obviously pleased whenever I get the opportunity, but I won’t be banging on the coach’s door. I want to help the team. The most important thing is that we’re successful as a team, and at the moment we’re on a really great path. I don’t know how many chances I’ll get in the first team but I’ll try to make every one of them count.
