Dublin - FC Bayern München's Mario Götze will miss the rest of the calendar year after suffering an adductor injury while on international duty.

Götze hobbled off in the first half of Germany’s 1-0 qualifying defeat to the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Thursday, evidently in visible pain following a challenge with Ireland’s James McCarthy.

After Joachim Löw had said Götze would play no further part in die Nationalmannschaft's qualification campaign for the Euros in France next summer, FC Bayern confirmed on Friday afternoon that he would likely be out for "ten to twelve weeks".

His next Bundesliga appearance could therefore be as late as 24 January 2016, when the Bavarians travel to Hamburger SV on Matchday 18.

Meanwhile, FIFA World Cup winners Germany will seal qualification for Euro 2016 with a draw in their final qualifier against Georgia in Leipzig on Sunday.
