Cologne - Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels has been ruled out of the 2014 FIFA World Cup winners' upcoming games against the USA and Gibraltar because of a hip complaint.
The 26-year-old has had the problem for a number of weeks and played through the pain in BVB's 3-1 defeat to VfL Wolfsburg in the DFB Cup final on 30 May.
Boateng a late arrival
Hummels will therefore play no part in next Wednesday's friendly with the Unites States at 1. FC Köln's RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne, or in the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifier against minnows Gibraltar in the Portuguese city of Faro on 13 June.
Meanwhile, head coach Joachim Löw has revealed that FC Bayern München centre-back Jerome Boateng has been permitted to join up with the squad on Wednesday and should be available for selection against Gibraltar three days later.
