Tokyo - Japan head coach Vahid Halilhodzic has named eight Bundesliga players in his 25-man squad for this month's friendly against Iraq and 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier with Singapore.

There was no place for either Eintracht Frankfurt's Takashi Inui or injured FC Schalke 04 right-back Atsuto Uchida, but Gotoku Sakai (VfB Stuttgart), Hiroki Sakai (Hannover 96), Makoto Hasebe (Eintracht Frankfurt), Hiroshi Kiyotake (Hannover), Shinji Kagawa (Borussia Dortmund), Shinji Okazaki(1. FSV Mainz 05), Yuya Osaka (1. FC Köln) and Hertha Berlin forward Genki Haraguchi - the latter following a near-two-year absence from the international setup - all made the grade.

New Mainz signing Yoshinori Muto has also been called up, with the Samurai Blue scheduled to face Iraq and Singapore on 11 and 16 June respectively.
