Weston McKennie and Nabil Bentaleb set for Schalke return
Weston McKennie and Nabil Bentaleb are both set to return to action in Schalke's Matchday 9 meeting with Mainz on Friday after recovering from injury.
USA Under-20 international McKennie, who had started the Royal Blues' previous three league games before the Matchday 8 trip to Hertha Berlin, had to watch last weekend's 2-0 win from the sidelines due to a thigh strain.
Bentaleb underwent a scan that revealed a pelvic inflammation, forcing the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder to also sit out the game in the German capital.
Both have been confirmed as being cleared to play by Schalke coach Domenico Tedesco, who now has increased options in the centre of the pitch for Friday's encounter at the Veltins Arena.
