Schalke seal deal for Junior Caicara

Gelsenkirchen - FC Schalke 04’s summer transfer business has continued with the signing of Brazilian full-back Junior Caicara from Bulgarian outfit PFC Ludogorets.

The 26-year-old right-sided defender has signed a three-year contract with the Gelsenkirchen club and will officially become a Schalke player when the new season commences on 1 July.

Caicara, whose full name is Uilson de Souza Paula Junior, began his career with local Sao Paulo outfit Santo Andre, enjoying loan spells at CS Alogoano, America SP and Portuguese side Gil Vicente. In 2012, he then made a permanent transfer to Ludogorets, winning the league and cup double in 2013/14 and appearing in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League in 2014/15.

He is also eligible to play for the Bulgarian national team having gained citizenship of the country in 2014.
