A handful of FC Bayern München's world-famous stars tried their hand at a couple of traditional American sports on the final day of their pre-season trip to Chicago, Illinois.

Before the extra-curricular fun could begin, however, the Bayern players were put through an extensive warm-down following the exertions of their 5-3 penalty shootout defeat to AC Milan:

Suitably supple, Bayern captain Philipp Lahm then headed over to Wrigley Field, the home of Major League Baseball side Chicago Cubs, to get some tips from resident catcher Miguel Montero. There was certainly no faulting the World Cup winner's enthusiasm!

"I know I can play football, but I wasn't sure I'd manage the first pitch," Lahm told club website www.fcbayern.de afterwards. "I just tried to get it straight – and it basically went well."

Also showing off their sporting prowess, Bayern midfield trio Javier Martinez, Xabi Alonso and Franck Ribery met up with NBA giants DeMarcus 'Boogie' Cousins of the Sacramento Kings and the Dallas Mavericks' Harrison Barnes:

Breaking down opposition attacks, shooting hoops - it is all the same to Martinez, who landed the shot of the day:

Elsewhere, Austria international David Alaba, Spanish wide man Juan Bernat and American starlet Julian Green met fans at a local Adidas outlet, Spain international Thiago Alcantara and Copa America Centenario champion Arturo Vidal signed autographs for fans at a T-Mobile store and fit-again defender Holger Badstuber and second-choice goalkeeper Sven Ulreich paid a visit to another of the club's main sponsors, Paulaner.

The second leg of Bayern's U.S. summer tour takes them to Charlotte, North Carolina, where they will face FC Internazionale Milano in the 'International Champions Cup'. To finish, they will take on one of head coach Carlo Ancelotti's former clubs Real Madrid CF in New York.
