FC Bayern München attacking midfielder Mario Götze hopes to return to first-team action in February following injury.

'Taking it day-by-day'

The 23-year-old suffered a tear in his left adductor in Germany’s UEFA Euro 2016 qualifier against Republic of Ireland on 8 October 2015, but is now able to train individually.

"It’s going well," Götze told kicker, Germany’s leading sports magazine, from Bayern’s winter training camp at the Aspire Academy in Doha. "Hopefully I’ll be able to start training with the ball next week, but then it’ll still be two or three weeks before I can take part in team training. I’d like to think it’ll be the beginning of February, but it’s hard to predict. I’m taking it day-by-day. The important thing is that there are no setbacks."

Götze's last appearance in a Bayern shirt came in the 5-1 victory over his former club Borussia Dortmund on 4 October 2015.
