Not a single round of fixtures went by without something worthy of the highlight reel, which made our mid-season task of selecting the standout encounter from Matchdays 1 through 16 all the more difficult - but we got there in the end!

Leipzig's astonishing start to life in the Bundesliga set up a tantilising encounter away to FC Bayern München to round off 2016, with the fixture pitting the top two against each other.
