The 37-year-old took over the first-team reins earlier this month when the club decided to part ways with head coach Dirk Schuster. Baum collected a win and a draw in his two games in charge as interim coach, and the club have responded by giving him the job until June.

'I've had a lot of fun'

"I'm pleased at the trust FC Augsburg have shown in me. I worked very hard with the team in the days leading up to the winter break, and I've had a lot of fun doing it. So I'm happy to stay on and continue my work as head coach," said Baum.

"We're convinced that Manuel Baum is the right coach to take the FC Augsburg philosophy on board and move it forward," sporting director Stefan Reuter said. "He's already been with us for two and a half years, has successfully implemented our philosophy at youth level, and he's now done excellent work preparing for our games against Dortmund and Mönchengladbach at professional level."
