FC Bayern München starlet Renato Sanches has been voted European Golden Boy for 2016.

The 19-year-old Portugal international beat Bayern teammate Kingsley Coman and Manchester United FC striker Marcus Rashford to the accolade, and will collect the trophy at a ceremony in Monte Carlo on Monday.

The prestigious honour caps an incredible year for the midfield talent, who only made his professional debut in November 2015. The former SL Benfica hotshot signed a five-year deal with Bayern towards the the end of the 2015/16 campaign, before playing an integral role in Portugal's UEFA EURO 2016 triumph in France, where he was also voted Best Young Player of the Tournament.

The Portugal ace was one of the standout performers at UEFA EURO 2016.

The Golden Boy prize - founded by Italian newspaper Tuttosport in 2003 and voted for by a panel of leading journalists from around Europe - is awarded to the best player under the age of 21 over the course of the calendar year.
