After over a year on the sidelines, Atsuto Uchida of FC Schalke 04 has undergone an MRI scan to check progress on his right knee. The Japan international has struggled with tendon complications since March 2015, but the latest scan showed positive results.

Since the previous test in September, the right-back’s knee has shown signs of marked improvement. That positive development has extended to the training pitch, where Uchida was ale to train with the ball for the first time since suffering from injury.

Further tests and scans will be carried out in four weeks time. If Uchida continues to make progress at the current rate, he is expected to increase the workload in training.
