FC Bayern München have announced they will be touring Asia next summer in preparation for the 2017/18 season.

The record German champions will be heading back to China, after previously visiting the Far East in 2015, while Singapore will also be on the agenda this time as the club look to raise brand awareness in a strategic location on their 2017 Asia summer tour.

In order to promote the Bavarian club and the Bundesliga in the Far East, Bayern also announced on Thursday that former players Giovane Elber, Bixente Lizarazu and Hasan Salihamidzic have been attracted back to the club to act as ambassadors, joining Paul Breitner.

"This is an outstanding way to represent this club – they are world-famous stars," said Bayern president Uli Hoeneß. "They should convey this club's philosophy, which they all have within them, abroad and it makes sense that we send our best men."

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge added: "They have achieved huge things for FC Bayern, with a combined 43 titles, and they are extremely likable too."

Lizarazu, 44, spoke of his pride in representing FC Bayern once again, saying that they are a "global brand" looking to establish themselves worldwide as a leading football club. "I can't wait to be able to tell people all over the world what makes this club so unique, and what FC Bayern means to me and millions of people."

Bayern will stage two friendly matches in Singapore and a further two in China as part of their summer tour. Last year, the Bavarians tapped into the American market with a trip to the USA, while they spent the winter in the Middle East once again with a training camp in Doha, Qatar.
