Team of the Hinrunde: Right midfielders

It's time to choose your 2016/17 Bundesliga Team of the Hinrunde, so pick a right midfielder from the quartet below!

Christian Pulisic (Borussia Dortmund)

The USMNT starlet has been one of the standout performers for Dortmund this Hinrunde. At just 18, the American has clocked up two goals and four assists for the Black-and-Yellows, as well as winning 50 per cent of his challenges. Pulisic has also shown that he can be as effective off the bench as he is in the starting line-up, having grabbed an assist and a late equaliser in the entertaining 3-3 draw against FC Ingolstadt 04.

Pablo De Blasis (1. FSV Mainz 05)

De Blasis began the season with a bang, scoring two goals and providing two assists in his side's opening games against Dortmund and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Mainz have had an up-and-down Hinrunde, but the Argentine has often popped up with goals at crucial moments, netting in their wins over SV Werder Bremen and SV Darmstadt 98. Overall, De Blasis has picked up four goals and three assists this season, and it could have been five goals if a late equaliser against Borussia Mönchengladbach had not been ruled out.

Marcel Risse (1. FC Köln)

Risse has been a key element for Köln in what has been an excellent Hinrunde – which makes the cruciate ligament injury he sustained in the loss to Hoffenheim particularly cruel. Before that, the 26-year-old had grabbed a couple of goals – including an absolute stunner of a free-kick to seal a Rheinderby win over Gladbach – and set up four more, creating 47 chances in all. The Billy Goats are likely to miss his creative touch in the coming months.

Julian Brandt (Bayer 04 Leverkusen)

Brandt is another youngster who has caught the eye down the right flank this season. Leverkusen have had a slightly topsy-turvy Hinrunde, but 20-year-old Brandt has been a constant menace, particularly in recent weeks. As well as scoring goals against Darmstadt and RB Leipzig, the newly-minted German international provided assists on four consecutive Matchdays, bringing his total for the season to five. All told, he has created no fewer than 49 chances for Die Werkself.
