On Day 16, we look at the career highlights of FC Bayern München and Germany playmaker Mario Götze...

At the age of 23, Memmingen-born Götze has already won four Bundesliga titles (two with former club Borussia Dortmund in 2010/11 and 2011/12, and two with Bayern in 2013/14 and 2014/15). He is perhaps best known, however, for scoring the winning goal against Argentina in the final of the 2014 FIFA World Cup to give Germany their fourth world crown. Check out these additional tidbits on one of the most gifted players of his generation...

  • Götze made his senior international debut at the age of 18.5 years, making him the youngest player to pull on a Germany shirt since the Bundesliga was founded.
  • His first international goal in a 3-2 win over Brazil on 10 August 2011 at the age of 19.19 years made him Germany’s youngest scorer since 1934.
  • At 23 years and 80 days old, in a game against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, the Bayern star became the youngest player to chalk up 100 Bundesliga wins.
