There has been no announcement yet of the length of Ginter's contract at the BORUSSIA-PARK, although that is expected to follow in due course.

"I spoke to Germany players like Lars Stindl, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Amin Younes about Borussia," said Ginter. "The team has huge potential and the atmosphere at BORUSSIA-PARK has always been brilliant. I'm very happy to be here. It shouldn't be a problem for me to join training a bit later on than everyone else [due to his involvement in the FIFA Confederations Cup]. The confidence and support from everyone at Borussia proved decisive."

"It's a big decision from Matthias Ginter, but we're very proud of it," said Max Eberl, Gladbach's sporting director. "We've been keeping an eye on him for three years. It's pleasing that we're in a position to be able to attract players like Matthias."

The 23-year-old joined BVB from Freiburg in 2014 and has since made 67 appearances for Die Schwarzgelben, scoring three goals.
