Manuel Neuer will return to action for Bayern Munich in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash with Real Madrid on Wednesday.

The goalkeeper has missed the Bundesliga leaders' last three matches with a foot injury that he sustained in training in late March, with Sven Ulreich deputising for the 31-year-old.

“Manu is fit! He trained well today and will be in goal tomorrow,” Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti told the pre-match press conference on Tuesday evening, while also revealing that Robert Lewandowski’s fitness will be assessed on the day of the match itself.

The striker, who is the Bundesliga’s leading scorer with 26 goals, left Bayern’s 4-1 win over Borussia Dortmund last Saturday with 18 minutes to go due to an injured shoulder.

“We will make a decision on him (Lewandowski) tomorrow. If he's okay, he plays. If he's in pain, he won't," Ancelotti added.

Defender Mats Hummels has already been ruled out of action with an ankle injury, meaning Jerome Boateng is set to come into the team alongside Javi Martinez at centre-back.
